DOJ issues criminal referral for one Trump opponent

Plenty of witch hunts have been levied against Trump. Now it’s time to answer for it.

Because the DOJ issued a criminal referral for this Trump opponent.

DOJ Receives Criminal Referral Targeting Brennan’s Alleged Deception on Steele Dossier

Attorney General Pam Bondi confirmed during a House Judiciary Committee hearing on Wednesday that her department has received a criminal referral from Chairman Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, accusing former CIA Director John Brennan of perjuring himself before Congress regarding the controversial Steele dossier’s influence on a key Obama-era intelligence report.

This development intensifies scrutiny on Brennan, whose tenure has long been marred by accusations of politicizing intelligence against then-candidate Donald Trump in 2016.

When pressed by Jordan on whether Brennan would face indictment amid the ongoing DOJ probe into the origins of the Trump-Russia investigation, Bondi replied, “What I can confirm is that we have received a referral from you, Chairman Jordan, to investigate John Brennan.”

She added, “His attorneys have made some public statements, but the department is still bound, of course, by our longstanding policy of not discussing matters. What I will say today I can’t confirm nor deny whether there’s a pending investigation, but what I will say [is] that no one is above the law. Weaponization has ended.”

The referral, submitted in October, spotlights Brennan’s congressional testimony about the Steele dossier—a discredited compilation of unsubstantiated smears against Trump—and its purported limited role in the Intelligence Community Assessment on Russian election interference.

Critics argue Brennan’s statements were misleading, contributing to what many see as a baseless witch hunt against Trump.

Grand Jury Subpoenas Escalate Pressure on Brennan and Allies

The DOJ’s investigation has already advanced to subpoenaing Brennan, along with former FBI officials Peter Strzok and Lisa Page, from a grand jury in the Southern District of Florida—a move Brennan’s legal team has decried as “forum shopping” for sympathetic judges.

This follows a separate call from CIA Director John Ratcliffe urging prosecution of Brennan on wider conspiracy claims tied to the Russia probe.

Brennan, a vocal Trump critic during and after his CIA leadership, now faces mounting evidence suggesting he may have twisted facts to fuel the narrative of Russian collusion, which Republicans have labeled a politically driven hoax aimed at derailing Trump’s presidency.

In a pointed exchange, Rep. Dan Goldman, D-N.Y., suggested political motivations behind the probe, quipping, “If we want to know whether Mr. Brennan will be indicted, you should just ask the president.”

This remark alluded to President Trump’s past comments on holding accountable those involved in the investigation’s origins.

Trump’s Stance Highlights Accountability for Brennan’s Alleged Misconduct

President Trump, when questioned last summer about Brennan amid initial reports of the FBI’s scrutiny, didn’t mince words: “I think they’re very dishonest people. I think they’re crooked as h-ll. And, maybe they have to pay a price for that.” He added, “whatever happens, happens.”

As the DOJ under Bondi vows to end the weaponization of justice, this referral underscores a reckoning for figures like Brennan, whose actions are increasingly viewed as emblematic of deep-state overreach that sought to undermine Trump’s 2016 campaign and victory.
