Former President Trump is the top enemy of the mainstream media. That’s what makes this so surprising.
And Trump is utterly astounded by what this Leftist media host just confessed about him.
It’s been more than nine years since Donald Trump originally launched his 2016 Presidential campaign, and the major mainstream media has not skipped a beat in its anti-Donald Trump narratives they’ve been concocting around the clock live on the air.
They have not learned their lesson as millions of Americans are shifting their focus away from Big Media legacy outlets like CNN and MSNBC over to independent sources of news that they trust much more. These include independent reporters on YouTube, Substack, and websites that are not owned by corporate overlords with agendas to push.
Chris Cuomo, a former CNN host who was a cog in that anti-Trump machine for years, is switching up his tone about Trump. He’s coming to grips with the fact that Donald Trump is such a popular figure with tens of millions of Americans because he represents a shift away from the political corrupt class.
Former CNN anchor Chris Cuomo, now hosting for NewsNation, offered a nuanced defense of Trump supporters on his podcast The Chris Cuomo Project. Cuomo argued that Trump’s base is not necessarily aligned with the former president’s personality or behavior, but rather sees him as a vehicle for systemic change.
“Man, if you want to punish, Trump is your boy. He is the spirit animal of grievance,” Cuomo stated. He went on to explain, “Something that we keep getting wrong in the media, and I think a lot of us just in general, is that you think people who support Trump are like Trump, and that’s not true”.
Cuomo emphasized that Trump supporters are primarily motivated by a desire for change in the political system. “Most of the people who support Trump are desperate to change the system, and they are willing to swallow everything that he isn’t because of what he is — which is a disruptive force of what they want changed,” he said.
The NewsNation host cautioned against broad generalizations about Trump’s base. “Doesn’t mean that they’re just all bigots or that they all act like him or think like him or sound like him. They just want what he’s selling them, which is to change, disrupt and break the system,” Cuomo explained.

In a separate podcast episode, Cuomo also expressed reservations about prosecuting Trump during an election cycle, despite acknowledging the merit of some cases against the former president. “Is it worth prosecuting the guy in the middle of an election? I don’t know. I would say no, and I know that’s crazy,” Cuomo stated.
These comments come as recent polls show Trump leading potential rival Kamala Harris in national surveys, particularly on economic issues. Many Americans are skeptical that Harris will handle economic and immigration issues differently than Joe Biden has for nearly four years, which is to say a Harris administration would be more of the status quo.
2024 Election & Its Stark Establishment vs. Anti-Establishment Narrative
Donald Trump and Kamala Harris couldn’t be more different from each other. Not necessarily because of policy issues. In fact, Kamala Harris seems to quite enjoy many of Donald Trump’s policies like No Tax on Tips as well as border walls on the southern border with Mexico.
No, the two are so different because of what they represent at their core. Kamala Harris is a part of the Democrat establishment machine and wants to keep that status quo in power in Washington, D.C. no matter what. Donald Trump is the exact opposite.
Donald Trump scares the living daylights out of the establishment because he isn’t controlled by them. That’s not to say he is a perfect person who will always make his supporters happy with his decisions. We know during his 2017-2021 term that he has in fact made mistakes in the eyes of his voters. Many of his supporters are critical of his handling of the 2020 pandemic panic, specifically the way he played along with the reckless government spending.
The real point is that Donald Trump wants to do what no Washington, D.C. corrupt establishment suit wants to do. That includes declassifying the JFK assassination documents, end the forever wars that help keep the corrupt military industrial complex flowing with money, and address the very real illegal immigration issues that have been left unchecked.
This election probably represents the establishment vs. the anti-establishment even more than when Donald Trump ran against Hillary Clinton back in 2016. Why? Because even in that case, Hillary Clinton did win a primary election even if they specifically tipped the scales for her rather than Bernie Sanders.
This time around, Kamala Harris was just thrown into the mix when Democrats figured out they couldn’t coverup Joe Biden’s failing mental health any longer.
