Trump isn’t taking this lightly. He’s not going to stand idly by as Biden continues to make absurd statements.
And Donald Trump goes nuclear on Joe Biden for making this false claim about him.
President-elect Donald Trump isn’t holding back in responding to President Joe Biden’s recent claim that he could have won re-election if he had stayed in the race.
At a New Year’s Eve celebration at Mar-a-Lago on Tuesday night, Trump, flanked by his wife Melania, addressed the comment directly. “Well, he was way behind, he would’ve really, I assume, not had a chance,” Trump said. The president-elect continued, “He was way behind (Harris) and we won in record numbers. I wish him well.”
Trump’s remarks follow reports that Biden, 82, and his aides have privately expressed regret over his decision to step aside as the presumptive Democratic nominee. According to insiders, Biden believed he had a strong shot at re-election, despite mounting pressure from Democrats and polls that suggested otherwise.
The turning point came on July 21, when Biden officially withdrew from the race and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris to lead the Democratic ticket.
The move was seen as a culmination of waning support for Biden’s campaign, exacerbated by his underwhelming performance in the June 27 debate, which Trump was quick to mock.
“Record numbers as you know from every swing state. We won the popular vote by millions and millions of people,” Trump said, referencing his decisive 2024 presidential election victory.
The Washington Post recently reported that Biden and his team have avoided placing blame on Harris for the Democratic loss. However, Trump insists that Biden’s campaign faltered long before Election Day.
Reflecting on their infamous debate clash, Trump said that Biden had the opportunity to prove he could defeat him, however “it didn’t work out too well for him.”
He attributed Biden’s struggles to his poor debate performance, which Trump claimed marked the beginning of his rival’s political downfall.
As the celebratory sounds of “Hail to the Chief” played at the Mar-a-Lago gathering, Trump expressed optimism for the nation’s future under his leadership. “A great year, I think we’re gonna do fantastically well as a country,” he stated.
“We’re gonna bring it back, it has to be brought back. People are not respecting our country very much and they gotta respect us a lot.”
Trump also pointed to what he described as significant momentum since his election. “There’s a whole light over the whole world,” he said. “Not just our country, there are a lot of very happy people.”

Looking ahead, Trump confirmed plans to attend former President Jimmy Carter’s funeral in Washington, D.C., on January 9.
“I do. I’ll be there. We were invited,” he said, adding a rare moment of bipartisan acknowledgment to the otherwise politically charged evening.
With his signature confidence, Trump assured attendees that the country is poised for a remarkable turnaround in 2025 under his administration.
And while Donald Trump has promised to bring better leadership to the White House, it’s hard to go anywhere but up after the mess the Joe Biden administration has made over the last four years.
