Donald Trump has secret meeting with huge consequences for the FBI

The Trump transition team has Washington, D.C. on fire. He’s about to make things even crazier.

Because Donald Trump just had a secret meeting with huge consequences for the FBI.

Mike Rogers Meets with Trump Transition Team Over FBI Director Role

Mike Rogers, the 2024 Republican Senate nominee in Michigan, recently met with President-elect Donald Trump’s transition team to discuss the possibility of serving as FBI Director in a second Trump administration, sources familiar with the situation told Fox News. The meeting took place at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach, Florida.

Rogers, a former FBI special agent and the former chair of the House Intelligence Committee, has extensive experience in national security and law enforcement. He spent a decade in Congress, with his final four years leading the House Intelligence Committee. Rogers was previously considered for the FBI director role in 2017 after the dismissal of former FBI Director James Comey. At that time, Trump ultimately appointed Christopher Wray to the position, where Wray has served a traditional ten-year term.

During his 2024 presidential campaign, Trump repeatedly emphasized his stance on reforming the FBI, claiming without proof that the bureau was riddled with politically motivated and corrupt officials. Wray, while not the primary target of Trump’s criticism, has faced occasional rebukes. Given this, Rogers’ potential appointment as FBI Director aligns with Trump’s broader goal of “cleaning house” within the federal law enforcement agency.

A source close to the situation told Fox News, “Mike Rogers would make a ton of sense as FBI Director for President Trump. Mike’s years of service for the bureau as well as his time as House Intelligence Chairman make him highly qualified for the position, one that I’m sure he would be honored to serve in under this administration and help bring integrity back to the DOJ Department of Justice.”

Rogers, a familiar face on cable news, briefly considered a run for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination in 2022 and early 2023. He made several stops in early-voting states like New Hampshire and Iowa, but ultimately decided against launching a White House bid. Instead, he entered the 2024 Senate race in Michigan, seeking to succeed retiring Democratic Sen. Debbie Stabenow. Despite receiving Trump’s endorsement, Rogers was narrowly defeated by Democratic Rep. Elissa Slotkin in last week’s election.

In addition to Rogers, another name reportedly under consideration for the FBI director role in a second Trump administration is Kash Patel. Patel, a former aide and adviser to Trump, served in key roles at the National Security Council and the Department of Defense during the latter years of Trump’s first term.

As Trump prepares for his second administration, the future leadership of the FBI remains a key point of discussion, with figures like Rogers and Patel emerging as potential candidates for the high-profile role.

Conservatives And Libertarians Unimpressed With Mike Rogers

Donald Trump himself has admitted that he made picks for his first administration that were not wise, largely because he was just learning the ropes. This time around, he promises to do a much better job about keeping the political class cronies out of power.

He won’t be perfect, but that’s why Donald Trump’s more libertarian and anti-government conservative base is pleading with him to stay away from the likes of Marco Rubio and other “big government” Republicans as much as possible.

Many Trump supporters are making it clear they are absolutely not fond of Mike Rogers being the head of the FBI, largely due to how much of a big government guy Mike Rogers has been over the years.

This conservative and libertarian wing of Donald Trump’s support base, which is extremely important to him and was critical to his 2016 and 2024 wins, are saying they are way more interested in seeing Kash Patel in the role instead.

CNN has reported that Kash is a “frightening” idea for the bureau, which is why many Trump supporters believe he would be the right man to pick for the job. The one who scares the Deep State the most is likely who Americans need in the role. “Kash is frightening at the bureau,” one anonymous source has said.
