Four-star general sends a serious threat to Russia with huge ramifications

America is taking down the mullahs in Iran. But they aren’t the only ones in the crosshairs.

Now a four-star general sends a serious threat to Russia with huge ramifications.

Petraeus Urges Swift Sanctions on Russia

Retired four-star General and former CIA Director David Petraeus has called for immediate punitive steps against Russia, citing fresh reports that Moscow is providing critical intelligence support to Iran. He contends this assistance is enabling Tehran to launch far more accurate missile and drone attacks against U.S. interests—strikes that would otherwise lie beyond Iran’s independent reach.

Push for Immediate and Decisive Sanctions

During a recent appearance on Fox News’ The Sunday Briefing, Petraeus pressed for rapid action, urging President Trump to collaborate with lawmakers and advance already-drafted legislation.

“President Trump should ask Congress to pass the sanctions bill that is in the Senate…” Petraeus told The Sunday Briefing.

He pointed to overwhelming bipartisan momentum behind the proposal and its potential to send a strong message.

“Sen. Lindsey Graham has over 90 out of 100 senators supporting it. It would be a very powerful signal to Russia. It would complement what the EU has done, which has been very impressive in this regard as well, and I think it’s long since time that the sanctions are slapped on Russia, especially now that apparently they’re providing the intelligence,” he added.

Petraeus stressed that the current moment makes such measures especially urgent in light of the reported intelligence cooperation.

Signs of Russian Assistance in Iranian Attacks

Petraeus highlighted that the improved precision of recent Iranian strikes strongly suggests outside help. He argued that Tehran lacks the organic intelligence-gathering capacity to achieve such targeting accuracy against American assets on its own.

Petraeus said Iran does not possess the type of intelligence required to target U.S. assets with precision on its own, and Russian interference would explain “some of the accuracy of the missiles and drone strikes.”

This view fits into a larger pattern of growing military and technical alignment between Moscow and Tehran amid heightened regional tensions.

Diplomatic Statements and U.S. Counterpoints

Iran’s top diplomat openly confirmed the enduring nature of the partnership.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi told NBC’s Meet the Press on Sunday that a military partnership between Iran and Russia has been no “secret” in the past and that such a partnership “is still there and will continue in the future.”

From the White House perspective, however, officials downplayed any meaningful effect from Russian involvement.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters, “It clearly is not making any difference with respect to the military operations in Iran because we are completely decimating them.”

Petraeus’s advocacy for sanctions arrives against a backdrop of intensifying U.S.-Iran friction and coordinated pressure from Western allies, including recent European Union actions targeting both Tehran and its key backers.
