And Gavin Newsom just got exposed as a massive creep.
Gavin Newsom has been trying to build his brand over the past few years.
He has positioned himself as a young go-getter who is willing to tow the party line.
Some even speculated whether he would be chosen to replace Biden for the 2024 election.
But it looks like those hopes have been dashed.
It has been reported that s*x modifications and hormone therapy would be included in California’s healthcare coverage for illegal immigrants.
Everyone, regardless of whether they entered the country legally, will be eligible for Medi-Cal, the state’s public health insurance program, as of January 1.
Previously, this program was only available to low-income individuals, families with children, seniors, people with disabilities, people in foster care, pregnant women, and low-income people with diseases such as tuberculosis, cancer, or HIV/AIDS.
Prior to the new rules, illegal immigrants could only receive emergency and pregnancy-related care; however, surgical and non-surgical procedures that “bring primary and secondary gender characteristics into conformity with the individual’s identified gender, including ancillary services, such as hair removal” are now covered as well.
According to the Daily Caller, a state letter on Medi-Cal stipulates that “gender-affirming care” is only a covered benefit “when medically necessary.”
“Requests for gender-affirming care,” it went on to say, “should be from specialists experienced in providing culturally competent care to transgender and gender diverse individuals and should use nationally recognized guidelines.”
In May of last year, the decision was made to include illegal immigrants in Medi-Cal.
According to state Sen. Maria Elena Durazo, it is a “historic investment” that “speaks to California’s commitment to health care as a human right.”
“In California, we believe everyone deserves access to quality, affordable health care coverage – regardless of income or immigration status,” said Gov. Gavin Newsom’s office at the time.
“Through this expansion, we’re making sure families and communities across California are healthier, stronger, and able to get the care they need when they need it.”
Former governor Jerry Brown made illegal immigrant children eligible for free healthcare in the state for the first time in 2015.
In 2019, this was extended to people aged 19 to 25.
All undocumented residents under the age of 50 will now be eligible for the program.
When the bill was passed, officials estimated that it would add 700,000 people to the system.
