Everyone, including high-profile Democrats in their Party, believes there’s no way Biden runs again in 2024. But Biden hasn’t indicated as much himself.
That could all change. Because Joe Biden keeled over when he got this news about who’s quietly stealing his job.
To put it simply, it’s hard to imagine the Democrats let Joe Biden run for a second term in 2024.
His age was a concern before his first term, and will almost certainly be an issue too large to overcome against an opponent the likes of Ron DeSantis or Donald Trump.
On top of that, he’s grown to be a truly unpopular President over the past year.
So the Democrats are trying to plant the seeds for a sleight of hand and hand the White House off to another Democrat.
But the question has been who?
Many thought it would be Kamala Harris, but with her favorability ratings on life support, the Democrats are seemingly no longer willing to explore that option.
That’s where California’s Governor Gavin Newsom comes in.
Lately, he’s been clamoring for national attention as he picks fights with popular conservative Republicans like Ron DeSantis.
It’s led many to believe that he’s gearing up to take Joe Biden’s place in 2024.
And according to the reports, that’s exactly what he’s doing.
The Daily Wire reports:
Individuals familiar with Newsom’s plans told TheWrap that Newsom was “undeniably, unequivocally” going to run for president if Biden does not run again.
The reports indicate that a California fundraiser who has close connections with Governor Newsom told TheWrap that Newsom will be making a presidential candidacy after the midterms.
They also indicated that Biden will be announcing that he won’t run in 2024 either.
This is interesting on several fronts.
If Joe Biden announces that he won’t be running for a second term in 2024 with more than two years left to spend in the Oval Office, that will send a clear message that he’s a lame duck President.
Congressional Democrats will be forced to distance themselves for the remainder of Biden’s term.
That would cause a dead legislative period in Congress for more than two years and the Democrats would have even more to overcome in the 2024 election.
This would also likely pit Gavin Newsom against Florida’s Governor Ron DeSantis or Donald Trump in 2024.
That could also be political suicide for Newsom and the Democrat Party, as Newsom will be forced to cater to the radical Leftist “progressives” in California or risk coming across as a phony if he changes his tune as soon as he entered a presidential race.
Ron DeSantis is extremely popular because he simply doesn’t play games and will attack his Democrat opposition where it hurts – on policy.
Newsom’s policy record in California won’t work for the general American public and he’ll be eaten alive by Ron DeSantis or Donald Trump.
No matter how you slice this cake, it appears to end in disaster for the Democrats. We’ll just have to see how it plays out.
