Biden has been out of the White House for quite sometime now. But that doesn’t mean he’s out of the spotlight.
Now Joe Biden left Democrats stunned with a major comeback announcement no one saw coming.
Biden’s Comeback Bid Stuns Party Insiders
Former President Joe Biden, now 82, and First Lady Jill reportedly huddled with Democratic National Committee chairman Ken Martin last month, floating a plan to thrust themselves back into the limelight.
According to NBC News, the couple pitched a revamped campaign push to lift the Democrats’ sagging image and replenish their coffers—a move that left ex-aides and party operatives reeling on Friday. With public support for Democrats tanking—recent polls show fewer than one-third of Americans approve of the party’s performance since Trump’s January 20 return—the timing of Biden’s offer has sparked disbelief.
“The Bidens are still living in an alternative universe that revolves only around them,” a former senior White House adviser told the New York Post, reacting to the NBC report. This insider didn’t hold back, pinning the party’s current woes on Biden’s tenure.
“Their irresponsibility, family ego and selfishness put the Democratic Party in this position in the first place … The Biden family — and the disconnected reality that they and their ineffective little circle live in — is responsible for the Trump sequel and the wilderness the Democratic Party finds itself in today.”
Doubts Swirl Over Fundraising and Relevance
Skepticism runs deep among those who once worked closely with Biden. “Why?” a former administration official mused aloud. “That is my first question.”
The same source questioned the Bidens’ draw, adding, “They can’t raise money either way. I think donors would be more inclined to donate if they [the Bidens] were not relevant.”
Another ex-aide was blunter: “Joe Biden should enjoy retirement at the beach in Rehoboth. No voter wants to hear from him. He is delusional and arrogant to think that he can be a value add to the Democratic Party. We need to move on from the era of Joe Biden and embrace new, younger leadership.”
The mockery didn’t stop at the White House alumni. Congressional Democrats, still licking their wounds from Kamala Harris’s November 5 rout—after Biden bowed out of a second term on July 21—piled on.
“Why the f–k would anyone listen to what Joe Biden has to say?” a congressional Democratic source exclaimed. “He should stay in retirement with his pardoned family and keep his mouth shut.”
A congressional aide took a sarcastic jab: “The best thing Biden could do for the DNC is offer [DNC vice chair] David Hogg a high-paying role at his foundation.” Another former Democratic staffer couldn’t believe it: “Is this serious? I mean, it has to be a joke. This is an ‘SNL’ skit.”
A Legacy Tarnished by Family Ties
Biden’s post-presidency has been quiet so far, with only sporadic tweets breaking his silence. He recently inked a deal with Creative Artists Agency, a firm he tapped in 2017 to hawk his memoir Promise Me, Dad after his vice-presidential stint.
How he’ll cash in remains unclear, but his family’s past offers clues. Hunter Biden and James Biden raked in millions from connections in China, Ukraine, and beyond, leveraging their proximity to Joe’s influence. Hunter’s foray into art—widely viewed as a grift tied to his dad’s power—has faltered, with a recent court filing admitting slim sales.
The sharpest critique came from that ex-senior adviser: “These people drank so much of their own Kool-Aid that they believed — and still seemingly believe — that an 82-year-old man with a 38% approval rating on a good day, who can’t sit down for a simple traditional 10-minute pre-Super Bowl interview, was the answer for Democrats in 2024 and now this same group thinks the Bidens are the answer for Democrats now?”
The source didn’t spare Biden’s inner circle either: “The fact that they continue to surround themselves with the same cast of clowns who delivered them nothing but the most devastating humiliation in modern political history — a president’s own power taken away by his own party — is all you need to know about them. They’ve learned nothing and they are the absolutely last and worst remedy for what ails the party in 2025 and 2026.” While the party flounders, Biden’s latest gambit only deepens the divide.
