The first lady is known for keeping mum most of the time. Now she’s opening up.
And Melania Trump issued a White House press release that turned Washington, D.C. on its head.
Melania Trump announced Wednesday that the White House will once again open its doors to the public, with tours resuming later this month.
In a statement from the White House, the first lady confirmed that the people’s house, located at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. NW in Washington, D.C., will “officially open for public tours on Tuesday, February 25, 2025.”
“The President and I are excited to reopen the White House to those interested in the extraordinary story of this iconic and beautiful landmark,” Melania said.
“There is much to learn about the American Presidency, the First Families who have lived here, and our Nation’s rich history from a firsthand experience at the White House.”
Melania emphasized the significance of this tradition, saying:
“This opportunity is unique among nations around the globe — a tradition we are honored to continue for the hundreds of thousands of visitors who come each year.”

The self-guided tours will last about 45 minutes and will be available from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday and from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday through Saturday, excluding federal holidays.
As stated in the White House release, tours will be scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis and are completely free of charge.
According to the White House website, visitors will have the chance to explore the public rooms of the East Wing and the Residence, including the Vermeil Room, the Library, the China Room, the Blue Room, the Red Room, the Green Room, the State Dining Room, and a view of the White House Kennedy Garden.
“Secret Service Officers are stationed along the tour route and are available to answer questions about each room’s history, art, furnishings, current uses, and beyond,” the website noted.
The announcement comes shortly after the first lady appeared in Hello! magazine, giving readers a behind-the-scenes glimpse of President Donald Trump’s second inauguration.
It marked her first magazine cover appearance in 16 years.
The digital cover showcased Melania in a striking black-and-white portrait, dressed in a black dress paired with a black jacket.
The headline read, “Melania Trump 2.0 – Exclusive photos and insight as she returns as First Lady,” featuring insights from insiders close to her, as previously reported.
