Mike Pence blindsides Donald Trump with huge lawsuit

Former Vice President Pence isn’t done. He’s back with a vengeance.

Because Mike Pence just blindsided Donald Trump with this huge lawsuit.

Mike Pence and Donald Trump may not agree on everything, but Pence knows at his core that the radical Left has gone way too far in their war on average Americans. Though the two may not have a repaired relationship ever again, Donald Trump and Mike Pence sometimes are on the same mission to counter the radical Left’s extremist agendas.

Former Vice President Mike Pence has made this much clear with a new lawsuit his organization Advancing American Freedom (AAF) is filing against Joe Biden and Kamala Harris for their Department of Health and Humans Services (HHS) and Food and Drug Administration (FDA) records, specifically over concerns that they have failed to fulfill Freedom of Information Act requests.

Judicial Watch and AAF Sue HHS and FDA Over Records on Abortion Pill Mifepristone

Judicial Watch, in collaboration with Advancing American Freedom (AAF), has filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The lawsuit, initiated on Wednesday, seeks access to records related to the abortion pill mifepristone. AAF, founded by former Vice President Mike Pence, partnered with Judicial Watch after HHS and the FDA failed to respond to FOIA requests made in May.

According to a press release, the lawsuit aims to uncover documents and communications concerning the approval process for mifepristone. The FDA has previously faced criticism for allegedly overlooking critical concerns when it relaxed restrictions on the abortion drug, which, according to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), carries a “significant morbidity and mortality” rate.

Marc Wheat, general counsel for AAF, commented on the FDA’s handling of the drug in the press release: “The FDA has repeatedly refused to acknowledge their role in approving the dangerous abortion drug, mifepristone, and have refused to disclose communications regarding their approval of it.” He added, “Advancing American Freedom has worked tirelessly to disclose the truth behind the FDA’s negligence and to bring justice for the women hurt or k*lled by this drug.”

Wheat emphasized the importance of public awareness regarding the FDA’s decisions, saying, “The American people deserve to know the facts of how the FDA shirked protocols in order to expand abortions, even at the cost of the health of the women using the drug. We are grateful to Judicial Watch for picking up AAF’s case.”

The controversy surrounding mifepristone intensified in 2021 when the FDA lifted the requirement for women to obtain chemical abortion pills in person. In response, pro-life organizations and medical professionals sued the FDA, accusing it of rushing the drug’s approval without addressing concerns over its potential side effects. The case escalated to the Supreme Court, which ruled in June that pro-life medical associations lacked the standing to challenge the FDA’s decision.

Despite the ruling, concerns about the safety of mifepristone persist. Pro-abortion organizations, such as Planned Parenthood, assert that the abortion pill is “very safe,” comparing it to over-the-counter medications like Tylenol and Viagra. However, NIH data highlights significant risks, including hemorrhage and infection, as leading causes of complications following its use.

One recent case in Georgia has drawn renewed attention to the risks of mifepristone. Amber Thurman, who was pregnant with twins, tragically died of sepsis after experiencing complications from taking the abortion pill.

Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton also addressed the issue in the press release: “From the get-go, the abortion pill has been promoted by a corrupted and politicized FDA, contrary to the health of both pregnant mothers and their unborn children.” He went on to criticize the current administration, stating, “The Biden-Harris FDA is covering up key facts about the approval of the abortion pill while simultaneously promoting its wild usage is a scandal.”

Abortion Pills Stand On Shaky Safety Grounds

While pro-abortion advocates have been claiming that the abortion pill is completely safe, the reality is that there have been a number of instances in which women have suffered from severe health risks due to the pill. Sure, the pill isn’t the sole cause of these health risks, but the adverse effects are being brushed under the rug by the FDA.

In 2023, one OB/GYN, Dr. Ingrid Skop, appeared before Congress during a hearing on abortion and women’s safety. She laid out all the facts that the abortion pill is not “as safe as Tylenol” as the advocates for the pill like to claim.

There’s still pending litigation concerning the legality of the proliferation of the abortion pill, with the U.S. Supreme Court recently sending a case on the pill back down to lower courts for further deliberation before it potentially comes back to the High Court.
