MSNBC descends into chaos over this genius move by Donald Trump

Trump is relishing his victory. And the Democrats are freaking out.

Now MSNBC descended into chaos over this genius move by Donald Trump.

College professor and MSNBC contributor Jason Johnson sounded the alarm over President-Elect Donald Trump’s choice for attorney general, calling the pick a major warning sign for those opposed to Trump’s agenda.

On Thursday evening, Trump announced his nomination of Pam Bondi, the former attorney general of Florida, to lead the Justice Department.

Bondi replaces Matt Gaetz, a former Florida congressman, who withdrew his nomination earlier in the day amidst allegations of paying underage women for s*x, calling the scandal a “distraction” to his potential role.

Speaking to MSNBC host Ari Melber, Johnson argued that Bondi’s selection poses a greater threat to Democrats and progressives because of her capability to execute Trump’s policies effectively.

“Occasionally, attorneys general try to behave like they are not the personal lawyer of the President of the United States. That is completely out the window. Pam Bondi is exactly what I was saying in the last segment that we should all fear, because she’s competent,” Johnson said.

He added:

“We may not agree with her ideologically, but she actually knows how to do this job. So if anyone on the Democratic side or anyone who cared about liberty or justice was thinking, ‘Well maybe Matt Gaetz will screw this up and that will give us time,’ no. Pam Bondi knows what she is doing.”

Johnson highlighted Bondi’s experience in Florida’s government as a sign of her ability to wield state power to implement conservative policies.

“She knows what she’s doing about immigration. Remember, Florida is one of those states that has been very aggressive about migrants and deportation and moving people to different states and everything else like that,” he said.

“Florida has enacted all sorts of rules and laws to curtail students and what they can do on campuses and finding legal justifications for manipulating education money.”

Calling Bondi a “dangerous and effective pick,” Johnson argued that she presents a more serious challenge than Gaetz, whose nomination had been bogged down by his controversial personal history.

“She is a dangerous and effective pick, and that’s frankly worse than what we would have got with Matt Gaetz, even with the deplorable moral background that he has,” Johnson said.

In a previous segment, Johnson had warned that a more experienced and competent nominee would be far more concerning than someone like Gaetz.

“I never necessarily thought that Matt Gaetz was a sincere pick,” Johnson told Melber.

“Trump can call all he wants, but I suspect there were many, many people lined up to come after him who won’t be as offensive, who might actually be more effective.”

While Gaetz’s withdrawal might appear to be a small victory for Trump’s opponents, Johnson cautioned that Bondi’s appointment could be a long-term setback.

“It might be a loss in the battle, but I don’t necessarily think it’s a victory in the war against what may be an AG that ushers in an authoritarian type of presidency that affects the fundamental rights of American citizens,” Johnson concluded.
