The U.S. Supreme Court has been very busy. But they’ve released one of their most important rulings ever.
And the results of this Supreme Court case are utterly earth-shattering.
For decades, one of the biggest debates facing America has been over affirmative action and its impact for American colleges and universities.
The Leftists have said for decades now that “minority” groups need to be given a leg up over other groups because they are at an inherent disadvantage.
Those on the Right have claimed that giving anyone a leg up over anyone else simply because of their affiliation with a racial “minority” is actually racist.
Why can’t someone be considered for acceptance into a college based alone on their academic prowess, strength of application, and integrity of character?
This idea that conservatives are racist for trying to defend meritocracy has been peddled by the left for decades now, despite how much it’s been debunked by the likes of scholars like Thomas Sowell.

Equal opportunity policies are against racism. Affirmative action is racism under new management.

It’s almost like factoring in the color of skin is a bad idea when you’re trying to pick good students. Who would’ve thought?
Well a case has been before the U.S. Supreme Court dealing with whether affirmative action should continue to be a consideration for colleges and universities in America for their admittance departments.
The Students for Fair Admissions, a group led by the legal team of Edward Blum, filed a lawsuit back in November of 2014 against Harvard University saying that Asian Americans were being discriminated against in their consideration for admittance to Harvard University.
They claimed that Harvard secretly has a “racial quota” in which Asian Americans are intentionally kept at a low admittance rate, evidence of the discrimination pointed out in their lawsuit.
In 2019, Judge Allison D. Burroughs ruled against the Students for Fair Admissions, saying that there was no unconstitutionality involved with Harvard’s consideration of Asian Americans and artificially keeping their admittance low.
In February of 2020, the Students for Fair Admissions were dealt another serious blow when the appellate court ruled that Judge Burrough’s original ruling in the lower court was correct. The Students for Fair Admissions had one more chance at the Supreme Court, and that was it.
Just this week, the Supreme Court ruled on the case, and it is sending shockwaves throughout the country.
In a 6-3 decision that was split on political lines with all 6 conservative justices in the majority and all 3 liberal justices in the minority, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in favor of the Students for Fair Admissions.
With this ruling coming from the U.S. Supreme Court, this effectively means that affirmative action is dead. Race and ethnicity can no longer be used against applicants for colleges and universities as the Supreme Court has ruled that practice to be unconstitutional.
“In the future, universities wishing to discriminate based on race in admissions must articulate and justify a compelling and measurable state interest based on concrete evidence. Given the strictures set out by the Court, I highly doubt any will be able to do so,” Justice Clarence Thomas wrote in his opinion on the case.
The majority opinion states that “nothing in this opinion should be construed as prohibiting universities from considering an applicant’s discussion of how race affected his or her life, be it through discrimination, inspiration, or otherwise. But, despite the dissent’s assertion to the contrary, universities may not simply establish through application essays or other means the regime we hold unlawful today.”
The impact of this ruling can’t be easily overstated. Colleges and universities will now have to prove that they are not considering race and skin color in determining whether someone’s application will be accepted.
Across the country colleges and universities are increasingly becoming Leftist indoctrination camps. So this win is definitely a big one for conservatives seeking to restore the legitimacy of our higher education systems.
