In a major triumph for law and order, President Trump has been cleared to send National Guard troops into the riot-torn streets of Portland.
The 9th US Circuit Court of Appeals handed down a decisive ruling on Monday, smashing through roadblocks set by activist judges and paving the way for federal forces to restore peace in this liberal stronghold.
The panel’s 2-1 vote came down firmly on the side of the president, overturning one of the temporary restraining orders that had kept the National Guard sidelined. This is a clear message that the courts won’t let far-left obstructionists stand in the way of protecting American cities from anarchy.
Leading the charge were Judges Ryan Nelson and Bridget Bade, both picks by Trump himself. Their no-nonsense approach cut through the nonsense peddled by Democrats who claim everything’s just fine in their crumbling urban cities.
“After considering the record at this preliminary stage, we conclude that it is likely that the President lawfully exercised his statutory authority under 10 U.S.C. § 12406(3), which authorizes the federalization of the National Guard when ‘the President is unable with the regular forces to execute the laws of the United States,’” the majority declared.
During the heated oral arguments, Judge Nelson pointed out that while it “may well be that the forces are used in an improper way,” the court simply didn’t “have evidence of that.” It’s refreshing to see judges focused on facts instead of hypotheticals dreamed up by the resistance.
The only holdout was a Clinton-era appointee, whose dissent reeks of the same old partisan playbook that puts politics over public safety.
This all stems from an earlier smackdown by a federal judge in Oregon, who slapped a block on the deployment back at the beginning of October. That ruling was a classic case of judicial overreach, ignoring the real dangers on the ground.
In her emergency order, the judge slammed Trump’s move as “untethered to reality” and warned that he is risking “blurring the line between civil and military federal power – to the detriment of this nation.” Sounds like the usual fear-mongering from the bench to shield radical elements.
The White House fired back hard, accusing the judge of being “untethered in reality” in a blistering statement that exposed the hypocrisy. Then, they took it straight to the appeals court, where common sense finally prevailed.
Adding fuel to the fire, Oregon Assistant Attorney General Stacy Chaffin tried to downplay the mayhem, arguing that Trump’s take on the violence in Portland didn’t come close to justifying federalizing the Guard.
She claimed the protests fell short of a full-blown “rebellion,” which Trump had cited as part of his legal basis.
But let’s call it what it is: Portland has been a powder keg of left-wing extremism, with anti-ICE radicals turning the city into a war zone. Trump’s not exaggerating—he’s responding to the cries for help from everyday Americans tired of the destruction.
The president’s not stopping at Portland; he’s eyeing other Democrat-run disasters like Chicago, where governors and mayors thumb their noses at federal assistance. State leaders might whine, but Trump’s putting America first by stepping in where locals won’t.
Democrats, of course, are howling that Trump’s inflating the threats just to grab control and “federalize” these cities. It’s the typical playbook: deny the problem, attack the solution, and hope voters don’t notice the burning buildings.
Trump and his backers, however, point straight to the anti-ICE clashes as proof positive that federal intervention is overdue. These aren’t peaceful gatherings—they’re assaults on our borders and our sovereignty, demanding a strong response.
Just days earlier, on Saturday, the 7th US Circuit Court of Appeals chipped away at another blockade, partially allowing National Guard troops near Chicago. Sure, they’re stuck at an Army reserve base outside the city for now, but it’s a foot in the door toward real enforcement.
And if that wasn’t enough, Portland got hit with a fresh civil rights complaint on Monday, accusing the city of pushing “race-first” policies even after vowing to dial back their divisive diversity, equity, and inclusion schemes. It’s yet another sign that woke mandates are fueling the division.
