“You know there’s concern among Europeans that President Zelenskyy is gonna be bullied into signing something away, that’s why you have these European leaders coming as backup tomorrow. Can you reassure them?” Brennan asked.
“No, it isn’t. … That’s not true,” Rubio said. “They’re not coming here to keep Zelenskyy from being bullied … Do you know how many meetings we’ve had since then? We’ve had a bunch of meetings since then.”
Rubio called out the “bullying” smear as nothing more than a “stupid media narrative,” making it clear that it was the Trump administration that extended the invitations to these leaders. We’ve been working with these people for weeks, for weeks on this stuff,” Rubio continued. “They’re coming here tomorrow because they chose to come here tomorrow. We invited them to come. We invited them to come. The president invited them to come.”
