The ADL rolled over and begged for mercy after being hit with a huge reality check

The Anti-Defamation League has done little more than demonize conservatives. But their little game has finally come to an end.

Because the ADL rolled over and begged for mercy after being hit with a huge reality check.

Backlash Erupts Over ADL’s Extremism Label on TPUSA

The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) abruptly dismantled its comprehensive “Glossary of Extremism and Hate” this Tuesday, prompted by widespread criticism—including sharp rebukes from Elon Musk and GOP legislators—for categorizing Turning Point USA (TPUSA) among extremist organizations.

The furor intensified just short of a month following the shocking assassination of TPUSA co-founder Charlie Kirk during a campus address at Utah Valley University, surrounded by supporters.

On the ADL’s site, TPUSA’s profile appeared beneath the “Center of Extremism” banner, portraying the right-leaning outfit as connected to “a range of right-wing extremists and has generated support from anti-Muslim bigots, alt-lite activists and some corners of the white supremacist alt-right.”

The entry further cataloged numerous provocative remarks from TPUSA affiliates or guest speakers, stretching back to 2015, and accused Kirk of leveraging the organization to advance “Christian nationalism.”

Prominent Figures Amplify the Criticism

Reacting swiftly to the designation, Tesla’s Elon Musk fired off a post on X this past Sunday, declaring that the “ADL hates Christians,” thereby rendering it a “hate group.”

In another message, he added, “Using such false and defamatory labels about people and organizations encourages m*rder.”

Florida Republican Representative Anna Paulina Luna joined the fray on Monday, lambasting the ADL with the assertion, “‘America First’ is not hate speech. Turning Point USA is not a hate group.” She directed her comments straight at the ADL’s X handle.

ADL Pulls the Plug on Its Long-Standing Resource

In unveiling the choice to shelve the “Glossary of Extremism and Hate” right away, the ADL emphasized that they are always “looking for how we can and should do things better.”

Spanning more than 1,000 profiles accumulated across years, the database met its end without specifics on which items were deemed “outdated,” though the ADL acknowledged several fit that bill.

“This will allow ADL to explore new strategies and creative approaches to deliver our data and present our research more effectively. It will keep us focused on ensuring we do what we do best: fighting antisemitism and hate in the most impactful ways possible,” the organization explained in a partial X update.

Among its listings were entities such as the Nation of Islam, Proud Boys, and Oath Keepers, alongside TPUSA and the “America First” initiative—yet it notably omitted outfits like Antifa and Black Lives Matter.

As noted on the glossary’s landing page, “Being included in this database does not mean that individuals or groups are engaging in illegal or violent conduct, but rather that in ADL’s judgment the views as exemplified by the statements made in support of those views can be considered extreme.”

An ADL representative shared with Fox News Digital: “With over 1,000 entries written over many years, the ADL Glossary of Extremism has served as a source of high-level information on a wide range of topics for years. At the same time, an increasing number of entries in the Glossary were outdated. We also saw a number of entries intentionally misrepresented and misused. Moreover, our experts have continued to develop more comprehensive resources and innovative ways to provide information about antisemitism, extremism and hate.”

“At ADL, we always are looking for how we can and should do things better,” the representative continued. “That’s why we are moving to retire the Glossary effectively immediately. This will allow ADL to explore new strategies and creative approaches to deliver our data and present our research more effectively. It will keep us focused on ensuring we do what we do best: fighting antisemitism and hate in the most impactful ways possible.”
