The DOJ uncovered a huge Democrat cover-up that could put people behind bars

The Left has a bad relationship with the truth. But now it’s all getting revealed.

Because the DOJ uncovered a huge Democrat cover-up that could put people behind bars.

Justice Department Investigates Alleged Manipulation of D.C. Crime Statistics

The U.S. Department of Justice has initiated an investigation into allegations that the Washington, D.C., Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) manipulated crime statistics to portray the city as safer than it is, according to multiple sources.

The probe, led by U.S. Attorney for D.C. Jeanine Pirro, follows long-standing concerns about the accuracy of MPD’s crime data, intensified by President Donald Trump’s recent federalization of the department to address rising crime.

Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, speaking on Fox News’ The Ingraham Angle on August 19, stated, “We’re of course looking into this because the reality is that we know that D.C. has been an incredibly unsafe place to live, for a very long time.”

Allegations and Investigation

The investigation centers on claims that MPD officials altered crime data to underreport violent incidents.

In May, MPD Commander Michael Pulliam was placed on paid administrative leave after allegations surfaced that he falsified crime statistics in the Third District, covering areas like Adams Morgan and Columbia Heights, to make trends appear more favorable, per NBC Washington.

Pulliam, who denies the accusations, filed an equal employment opportunity complaint against a senior official prior to his suspension. The D.C. Police Union, led by Chairman Gregg Pemberton, has supported Pulliam, alleging that MPD leadership directed officers to downgrade felonies to lesser offenses, a practice Pemberton called widespread in a July interview with NBC Washington.

Trump’s Response and Federal Takeover

Trump highlighted the issue in an August 18 Truth Social post, writing, “D.C. gave Fake Crime numbers in order to create a false illusion of safety. This is a very bad and dangerous thing to do, and they are under serious investigation for so doing!”

The allegations predate Trump’s August 11 executive order invoking Section 740 of the D.C. Home Rule Act, which placed MPD under federal control for 30 days and deployed National Guard troops to combat crime.

MPD data reports a 26% drop in violent crime in 2025 compared to 2024, following a 35% decline from 2023, but critics, including the police union and Trump allies, question these figures. A 2020 lawsuit settled in July by MPD whistleblower Sgt. Charlotte Djossou further alleged systemic misclassification of crimes.

Local Response and Further Context

D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser has defended the city’s crime statistics, citing a 30-year low in violent crime and dismissing widespread manipulation claims. In an August 12 interview with NBC4, Bowser noted that an internal investigation found issues limited to one commander and “not many cases.”

The Council on Criminal Justice reports that violent crime has declined nationally since 2023, with D.C.’s trends aligning, though the city’s homicide rate remains high at 27 per 100,000 people in 2024, per AH Datalytics.

Social media posts on X reflect skepticism, with users like @KylieJaneKremer and @PhilHollowayEsq citing Pulliam’s case as evidence of systemic issues. The Justice Department and MPD have not commented publicly on the ongoing probe.
