The federal government has been weaponized for years. Now is the time to fix it.
And the FBI is in chaos after Trump started cleaning house with no mercy.
FBI leadership faced a sweeping overhaul Thursday as numerous high-ranking officials were either fired or pressured to resign — just hours after FBI Director nominee Kash Patel testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee.
At least 20 senior FBI personnel, including executive assistant directors, assistant directors, and special agents in charge, were abruptly forced out, according to sources familiar with the matter.
The shake-up affected major field offices across the country, with top officials losing their posts in Miami, New Orleans, Las Vegas, and Washington, D.C.
The sudden wave of terminations sent a clear message that change is coming to an agency long accused of political bias.
Some of those ousted had already packed up their offices before receiving official termination notices, a sign they may have anticipated their removal.
The FBI refused to comment on the dismissals, offering no explanation for the unprecedented personnel changes.
Meanwhile, despite aggressive pushback from Senate Democrats, Patel appears to be on a smooth path to confirmation as the next FBI director.
His testimony before the Judiciary Committee showcased the deep divide between Republicans seeking accountability and Democrats desperate to protect the agency’s entrenched leadership.
Democrats on the committee pressed Patel about the recent firings at the Justice Department, demanding to know whether he had prior knowledge of any efforts to “punish” FBI agents involved in politically charged investigations against President Trump.
Patel firmly denied any involvement in the DOJ terminations, stating that he had no knowledge of plans to retaliate against any FBI personnel.
His nomination, however, is no coincidence.
President Trump selected Patel with a clear mandate: to clean house at an agency Republicans argue has been weaponized against conservatives for years.
For many on the right, the FBI’s leadership had become little more than an extension of the Democratic Party, operating as a partisan tool rather than an impartial law enforcement body.
Patel’s appointment signals a long-overdue effort to root out corruption and restore the agency’s credibility.
During his confirmation hearing, Patel doubled down on his commitment to ending political interference within the FBI, vowing to shift the agency’s focus back to its original mission — protecting the American people, not targeting political opponents.
“There will be no politicization of the FBI. There will be no retributive actions,” he assured the Senate.
For millions of Americans who have lost faith in the Bureau, Patel’s leadership represents the best chance to finally restore integrity to an institution that has spent far too long operating as a political weapon.
