This boneheaded slip of the tongue left Democrats utterly humiliated

The Left doesn’t have a great relationship with the truth. Now their lies are on full display.

And this boneheaded slip of the tongue left Democrats utterly humiliated.

Washington Post’s “Mysterious” Fentanyl Decline Narrative Mocked

The Washington Post faced widespread ridicule from conservative figures and the White House for its perplexing claim of a “mysterious” drop in fentanyl seizures at the U.S. southern border, a trend the outlet struggles to explain despite clear policy shifts under the Trump administration.

The Post’s framing of the nearly 30% reduction in seizures compared to 2024 as a puzzle has been slammed as either clueless or deliberately obtuse, given the administration’s aggressive anti-trafficking measures.

Fentanyl, a deadly opioid tied to 48,422 U.S. deaths in 2024 per CDC data, has long been smuggled across borders by cartels, making the decline a focal point of debate.

Trump’s Border Crackdown Yields Results

Since taking office, President Trump has implemented robust policies to curb fentanyl trafficking, including deploying U.S. troops to the southern border, labeling cartels as “foreign terrorist organizations,” and imposing sanctions on their leaders.

The Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) reported a 50% drop in fentanyl seizures since the November 2024 election, indicating a “greater decline in total fentanyl smuggling.”

The Department of Homeland Security stated on X, “It’s no mystery. On day one, [President] Trump closed our borders to drug traffickers,” adding, “The world has heard the message loud and clear.”

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt dismissed the Post’s reporting as “pathetic,” while Communications Director Steven Cheung noted, “They can’t stand that President Trump’s strong border policies have led to a DECREASE in fentanyl coming into the U.S.” Abigail Jackson, another White House spokeswoman, told Fox News Digital, “As of March, fentanyl traffic at the Southern Border had fallen by more than half from the same time last year – while Joe Biden’s open border was still terrorizing America. Everyone else knows the simple truth: President Trump closed our border to illegal drug traffickers and Americans are safer because of it.”

Washington Post’s Narrative Falls Flat

The Washington Post, however, portrayed the decline as a baffling anomaly, writing, “After years of confiscating rising amounts of fentanyl, the opioid that has fueled the most lethal drug epidemic in American history, U.S. officials are confronting a new and puzzling reality at the Mexican border.”

“Fentanyl seizures are plummeting.” The outlet speculated about cartels using new smuggling routes, internal conflicts, ingredient shortages, or reduced demand, while fretting that “public health authorities are concerned that the Trump administration’s budget cuts could hurt programs that have promoted overdose antidotes and addiction treatment.”

This narrative drew sharp rebuke online. Rep. Tom Tiffany (R-Wis.) quipped on X, “The Washington Post is reporting a ‘mysterious drop’ in fentanyl seizures at the southern border. Mystery solved! The Trump effect is working.”

Conservative influencer Charlie Kirk jabbed, “Four months into the Trump administration, The Washington Post is marveling at the ‘mysterious’ drop in fentanyl seizures on the Mexican border … Is the Post simply lying, or are their reporters as dumb as the people they’re writing propaganda for?”

Critics argue the Post’s reluctance to credit Trump’s policies reflects bias, with Jackson accusing its reporters of “Trump-Derangement Syndrome.” The Washington Post did not respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment, leaving its coverage under fire for missing the obvious.
