The Left has done it again. Their ideology is destroying the country from within.
And a top Democrat was found responsible for a major FAA emergency in this U.S. city.
Government Shutdown Chaos: FAA Grounds Flights to LA
The skies over America are grinding to a halt, thanks to the endless government shutdown that’s squeezing hardworking folks dry. The Federal Aviation Administration just slapped a temporary ground stop on flights heading to Los Angeles, blaming it on a dire shortage of air traffic controllers.
This mess exploded into view when Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy went on Fox News and laid it out plain. He pointed fingers at the mounting financial strain pushing controllers to their breaking point, with more of them phoning in sick every day, per ABC News.
Airplanes bound for LAX got stuck at their starting points right around 11:42 a.m. Eastern time, per the outlet. The FAA claims this freeze should thaw by 1:30 p.m., but who knows if that’s just wishful thinking amid the turmoil.
ABC News also noted how Duffy didn’t mince words during his spot on Sunday Morning Features. He highlighted how the shutdown is crushing these essential workers, who are already juggling one of the toughest gigs out there.
“Just yesterday, …. we had 22 staffing triggers. That’s one of the highest that we have seen in the system since the shutdown began. And that’s a sign that the controllers are wearing thin,” Duffy stated.
Those staffing triggers mean real trouble—controllers stretched so thin that safety could be on the line. It’s no wonder delays are piling up, with LAX flights now averaging an hour and 40 minutes behind schedule.
The FAA insists they’ll lift the ground stop soon, but they’re warning that traffic into Los Angeles might stay throttled even after that. This isn’t just a blip; it’s a full-blown crisis hitting travelers hard.
And it’s not isolated to California. Just on Friday, airports in Phoenix, Houston, and San Diego felt the sting of similar staffing woes, leading to widespread holdups, per Politico.
Before that, the East Coast got hammered too. LaGuardia in New York and Newark in New Jersey saw their share of chaos from the same controller shortages, Politico noted.
Other hubs joined the misery, with delays rippling out like a bad chain reaction. This shutdown is turning air travel into a nightmare for everyday Americans trying to get where they need to go.
Duffy has been vocal about the unacceptable toll on these pros. He’s called out the insane stress levels they’re enduring, day in and day out.
Washington’s gridlock is the real villain here. Air traffic controllers keep the skies safe, but the politicians bickering over budgets are putting everyone at risk.
Families planning trips, business folks chasing deals— they’re all paying the price for this D.C. dysfunction.
How long before the whole system collapses under the weight of this stupidity?
It’s time for real leaders to step up and end this shutdown farce. Air traffic heroes deserve better than being pawns in a political game that’s gone on way too long.
