Former Donald Trump is going on the offensive. He has the President in his sights.
Because Trump has hatched a plan to oust Joe Biden from the White House once and for all.
On Tuesday morning, former President Donald Trump called on Republicans to invoke the 25th Amendment, which deals with presidential succession in the event the president is unable to fulfill out the responsibilities of the office, claiming that the recent prisoner swap deal with Iran proves that current President Joe Biden is “incompetent.”
The Biden administration informed Congress on Monday, the 22nd anniversary of the September 11th, 2001 terrorist attacks, that it had pushed forward with a controversial deal with Iran to release five kidnapped Americans in exchange for the releasing of $6 billion in sanctions against the country.
Many conservatives were quick to condemn the decision. On Tuesday morning, Trump weighed in on the debate on Truth Social, saying, “So, lets get this straight! We did a hostage TRADE with Iran. We gave them 5 very tough, smart people that they desperately wanted. We likewise got back 5 people BUT, we also gave them 6 BILLION DOLLARS!”
“How much of a kickback does Crooked Joe Biden get? Does anyone realize how much money 6 Billion Dollars is? When I was President, I got back 58 hostages for ZERO money. Remember Pastor Brunson? It sets a TERRIBLE precedent. Republicans, call out the 25th Amendment, NOW! Biden is INCOMPETENT!” he said.
Trump denied the rumors that the 25th Amendment will be invoked against him following the disturbance on January 6th, 2021, at the Capitol, prior to Biden’s inauguration.
When asked about the 25th Amendment, Trump responded, “The 25th Amendment is of zero risk to me, but will come back to haunt Joe Biden and the Biden administration. As the expression goes, be careful what you wish for.”
No statement was made to the press by the White House.
After President John F. Kennedy was killed in 1963, concerns about a smooth presidential succession led to the ratification of the 25th Amendment in 1967. When Spiro Agnew resigned as Vice President in 1973, President Richard Nixon utilized this amendment to appoint Gerald Ford to fill the position. Next, after Nixon’s resignation in 1974, Ford became president and selected Nelson Rockefeller to be his vice president.
Both Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush invoked the amendment’s provisions for what happens if the president is “unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office.” Both presidents used the provision to hand over control to their vice presidents while they were under for colonoscopies.
Joe Biden’s age and ability to fulfill the duty of the President of the United States has been under intense scrutiny in recent weeks and months, especially as he is over the age of 80 now.
There’s plenty of 80 year olds who are in a way better state than Joe Biden, but it’s clear that the President is on the decline. His mental faculties are simply not nearly as good as they were just several years ago.
Democrats are constantly nervous whenever he appears in front of the camera, and not just because of his regular goofy personality. His pauses and random fits of anger put off the average American.
Their goal with the Joe Biden reelection campaign is to literally keep him from the cameras as much as possible. That’s why he’s said he may not even attend Presidential debates during the general election season next year.
All of this gives validity to the idea that Biden may very well be on his way to matching the description of a President who can no longer do his job and therefore the 25th Amendment would need to be invoked.
There’s legal questions about how and when that could happen, but the Democrats can’t ignore that it’s a real possibility. That’s why Kamala Harris has even been saying that she looks forward to being “prepared” to take up the role as the President of the United States should Joe Biden step aside.
In that event, God help us all.
