The Trump admin has taken over the Capitol. It’s causing total chaos.
Especially after the Attorney General gave D.C. law enforcement this direct order.
Pam Bondi Ending Sanctuary Status in D.C. to Restore Law and Order
Attorney General Pam Bondi announced on Thursday the termination of Washington, D.C.’s sanctuary city policies, demanding the swift removal of measures that have long shielded illegal immigrants involved in crime from federal authorities. This directive comes as part of President Donald Trump’s aggressive push to federalize law enforcement in D.C., placing the Metropolitan Police under direct oversight to tackle surging violence and decay that have plagued the city under years of Democratic leadership.
Bondi appeared on Fox News’ Hannity to outline the administration’s vision, emphasizing that the capital can no longer harbor those who break the law while progressive policies have allowed disorder to flourish.
“D.C. will not remain a sanctuary city actively shielding criminal aliens, will not happen. Under Donald Trump’s directive, D.C. will become safe again and it will become clean again. And I think what’s happening is it’s a combination of an extremely divisive city council,” Bondi told Fox News host Sean Hannity.
The order directly overrides a recent Metropolitan Police guideline that barred officers from detaining individuals based only on immigration warrants and limited data sharing with immigration officials, a policy seen as a direct enabler of criminal activity.
Bondi’s actions build on Trump’s executive order signed earlier this week, declaring a crime emergency in D.C. and invoking federal authority to commandeer local police resources for protecting government operations and public spaces.
This federal takeover, announced during a White House press conference, includes deploying 800 National Guard troops to patrol streets, target gangs, and dismantle criminal networks, marking a historic intervention to liberate the capital from what Trump calls “bloodshed, bedlam, and squalor.”
In just days, the surge has yielded impressive results, with over 150 arrests, the clearing of homeless encampments that have turned iconic areas into eyesores, and a coordinated effort involving agencies like the FBI, DEA, and ATF to sweep dangerous elements off the streets. Bondi highlighted the federal operation’s early successes during her interview, pointing to tangible gains in combating the drug epidemic and other threats that have eroded safety.
“Sean, they have been working so hard, working together. We’ve made 156 arrests. 27 firearms have been seized. Child p*rnographic material has been seized. Over 200 fentanyl pills taken off the street,” Bondi told Hannity.
The crackdown was spurred by incidents like the brutal assault on Edward Coristine, a Department of Government Efficiency worker dubbed “Big B*lls” for his bravery in intervening during a carjacking, demonstrating the urgent need for federal muscle in a city where locals claim crime stats are manipulated to exclude serious assaults.
Tragic events have further fueled the administration’s resolve, including the June 30 shooting death of Eric Tarpinian-Jachym, an intern for Republican Rep. Ron Estes, near the White House, and a May attack by an alleged pro-Hamas activist that k*lled two Israeli Embassy employees at the Capital Jewish Museum.
Bondi didn’t mince words about the failures of D.C.’s system, slamming soft-on-crime approaches that have empowered repeat offenders and tied the hands of dedicated officers.
“You have liberal judges. You have no cash bail, as you said, you have juveniles running rampant over this city and you have a Metro police department, they want to do their jobs. And we have been out there for the last few nights with all of our federal agencies,” Bondi said.
This initiative echoes Trump’s campaign to revitalize American cities, drawing from past successes like Operation Legend during his first term, which flooded high-crime areas with federal agents to curb violence, and now extends to a March task force aimed at surging resources to make D.C. a model of security and prosperity.
President Trump has vowed to expand these efforts nationwide, targeting sanctuary havens in liberal strongholds where illegal immigration and lax enforcement have invited disaster, promising to rebuild urban centers into safe, thriving hubs that honor America’s greatness.
With D.C. as the starting point, the administration’s strategy includes beautification projects to erase graffiti and filth, alongside enforcement operations that prioritize deporting criminal aliens and restoring respect for law enforcement.
Critics from the left, including Mayor Muriel Bowser, have downplayed the crisis despite admissions of past spikes, but Trump’s team counters with evidence of manipulated data and ongoing threats that demand decisive action.
