The political atmosphere is far too hot. It can’t be tamed anymore.
And this Kamala Harris advisor sent out a threat that put the 2024 election on ice.
Everyone was expecting Pennsylvania’s Governor Josh Shapiro to be picked as Kamala Harris’ Vice President running mate. It made a ton of sense considering Pennsylvania with its 19 electoral votes could end up deciding who wins the Presidential election this November.
It was a shock that Kamala Harris picked the most radical “progressive” on the table in Tim Walz from Minnesota. Many political strategists are saying that, while the VP pick usually doesn’t matter much, going with Walz over Shapiro is specifically choosing not to make a big play for Pennsylvania.
At least one Democrat operative is lashing out against those who voiced concerns about Josh Shapiro and potentially tipped the scales into Tim Walz favor at the end of the day.
John Fetterman Threatened Over Vocing Concerns About Josh Shapiro
In a recent episode of his “Politics War Room” podcast, Democratic strategist James Carville issued a stern warning to Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman, accusing him of undermining his state’s governor, Josh Shapiro. Carville’s criticism centers on allegations that Fetterman lobbied against Shapiro being selected as Vice President Kamala Harris’ running mate.
According to sources familiar with the situation, Fetterman’s advisers quietly expressed concerns about Shapiro’s focus on his own political ambitions. Carville, however, views this as a serious breach of loyalty. During the podcast, he did not hold back his disapproval, stating, “One of the great backstabbers in modern Democratic politics is John Fetterman, but I’m going to wait ’til after the election to deal with him. But he’s somebody that must be dealt with, and must be dealt with in real terms.”
Carville’s co-host, Al Hunt, echoed these sentiments, suggesting that Fetterman had “sandbagged Shapiro,” to which Carville agreed. He emphasized that Shapiro played a significant role in securing Fetterman’s Senate victory, noting, “If you look at the Pennsylvania election returns in 2022, you’ll see how Josh dragged this guy across the finish line.”
The tension between Fetterman and Carville isn’t new. Last December, Fetterman publicly told Carville to “shut the f**k up” after the strategist warned that President Joe Biden’s poor polling numbers could lead to a loss in the 2024 election. Fetterman dismissed Carville’s concerns, stating, “There’s a whole lifetime in politics between now and next November as well. I’m not worried about that.”
He further criticized Carville, saying, “My man hasn’t been relevant since grunge was a thing. And I don’t know why he believes it’s helpful to say these kinds of things about an incredibly difficult circumstance with an incredibly strong and decent and excellent president. I’ll never understand that.”
The ongoing friction between Carville and Fetterman is demonstrable of deeper tensions within the Democratic Party as the 2024 election approaches.
The Pennsylvania-Sized Misstep From The Kamala Harris Campaign
Removing Biden meant that the race was always going to be a 50-50 election, especially in this particularly divisive political atmosphere that makes virtually everything a debate.
Kamala Harris not making the play for Pennsylvania clearly leaves the door open for Donald Trump to pursue the path to victory he always wanted fromt he beginning of his 2024 campaign. That is to win Pennsylvania and Michigan. He believes if he can do that, it will be next to impossible for Democrats to win, and he’s right.
By not adding the Pennsylvania governor to her ticket, Harris has allowed Trump to continue with his plan to make an argument that the Rust Belt voters are better off with him rather than the radical Democrats.
Pennsylvania voters have been notoriously undecided over the past few elections. They can’t be counted on very often. Choosing not to have a leg up in that state most definitely seems like a blockheaded decision and James Carville seems to be aware of that.
