Bad PR is the nail in the coffin of any campaign at this point in the race. And the Left is sweating.
Because this White House official got caught in a scandal that they are desperately trying to hide.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is under fire for its disastrous response to Hurricane Helene, but instead of focusing on its core mission, the agency seems to have been preoccupied with pushing LGBTQ and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) agendas during the Biden administration.
While Americans were left waiting for FEMA to do its job, the agency was busy prioritizing political correctness over disaster preparedness.
As FEMA faces mounting criticism, videos of the agency’s internal training sessions and policy discussions have surfaced on social media, revealing a shocking focus on issues far removed from its actual mission.
One video features Reilly Hirst, FEMA’s Director of Education/Training for the agency’s “Pride Federal Employee Resource Group,” proudly discussing how FEMA has been having “conversations with migrant trans women.”
According to Hirst, the agency’s priority was to ensure that “migrant trans women” feel comfortable in FEMA-provided shelters, emphasizing the need to avoid “misgendering” and allowing access to the bathrooms and bedrooms of their choice.
While FEMA should have been preparing for natural disasters, the agency was instead obsessed with appeasing niche identity groups.
In another video from a disaster preparedness meeting, FEMA managers are seen discussing the importance of focusing on “LGBTQIA people” and ensuring “disaster equity.”
But what exactly does “disaster equity” have to do with getting aid to hurricane victims?
It doesn’t stop there. In 2023, FEMA proudly signed a pledge with the NAACP to promote “equity” in disaster relief.
On September 20, 2023, NAACP President Derrick Johnson and FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell celebrated the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA), which they claimed would “instill equity in disaster relief” and focus on empowering Black communities.
This may sound good in theory, but at what cost?
While FEMA was busy signing pledges and making symbolic gestures, real Americans in need of immediate help were left behind.
FEMA’s deep dive into DEI and climate change began almost as soon as Biden took office.
In December 2021, Criswell released a policy memo touting the agency’s commitment to “equity” and “climate change.”
Instead of honing in on disaster response and recovery, FEMA’s leadership was more concerned with advancing a social agenda.
Criswell boasted that FEMA would focus on “increasing equity in our programs and policies” and leading “climate resilience” efforts — priorities that had little to do with actually helping victims of disasters like Hurricane Helene.
In the same memo, Criswell outlined FEMA’s mission to “Instill Equity as a Foundation of Emergency Management” and “Lead Whole of Community in Climate Resilience.” But while the agency was pushing these talking points, communities hit by disasters were left waiting for real, tangible help.
The real question here is: where was FEMA’s focus when Americans needed them most?
Instead of preparing for the next disaster, it seems they were too busy worrying about DEI initiatives and political correctness.
