Biden-Harris create national security nightmare on the northern border

This is just out of hand. The southern and northern borders are completely insecure.

As the Biden-Harris administration have created a national security nightmare on the northern border.

The Biden-Harris administration has often emphasized its progress in addressing the southern border crisis. However, a significant rise in illegal migrant encounters at the northern border has largely gone unacknowledged, with numbers now surpassing the total of the last three fiscal years combined.

In June, President Joe Biden signed executive orders aimed at controlling illegal migration at the southern border. These measures, which included raising asylum standards and limiting the number of migrants allowed to seek sanctuary, have been touted as successful by the administration.

In recent months, the number of illegal crossings at the southern border has decreased. Despite this, the northern border is witnessing a sharp increase in illegal immigration, posing new challenges distinct from those seen in the south.

Steven Camarota, director of research at the Center for Immigration Studies, explained, “Southern border numbers may be down, but we would expect people’s desire to come here to remain the same. Since the things that apply to the southern border don’t necessarily apply to the northern border, you could certainly see more people there.”

Data from Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) shows that in July, there were 3,037 illegal migrant encounters at the northern border, a significant rise from 926 in January, marking a 228% increase. Even more striking, this represents a 1033% surge from July 2022, when only 268 encounters were recorded. In fiscal year 2024, there have been a total of 19,498 illegal migrant encounters at the northern border, more than the last three fiscal years combined. Additionally, over 15,000 of these migrants were single adults, according to CBP data.

Concerns about national security have also surfaced, as terrorists or terror-linked individuals have been apprehended at the northern border. In fiscal year 2024, 283 migrants on the Terrorist Screening Dataset (TSDS) have been caught attempting to cross the northern border, with 281 of them apprehended at legal points of entry. By comparison, there were 487 TSDS-related apprehensions in total at the northern and southern borders combined in fiscal year 2023.

The influx of migrants at the northern border includes individuals from various countries, including Venezuela, India, Bangladesh, and Mexico, according to CBS News. Erik Lavallee, a Border Patrol agent overseeing the U.S. station in Beecher Falls, Vermont, described the situation: “It was a flood we had never seen before. It was an exponential shift, something we were not expecting and it just hit us hard.”

Several factors may be contributing to the surge in illegal immigration at the northern border. Until recently, Canada had a policy allowing foreign nationals to enter the country without a travel visa, which enabled some migrants to move southward and claim asylum at the U.S. border. However, this law was changed in February, and Canada now requires visas for Mexicans and other foreign nationals.

The northern border also lacks the physical barriers and fencing found along the southern border, making it easier for migrants to cross undetected. This border spans thousands of miles, and many of the migrants attempt to enter the U.S. without being caught.

Lavallee noted, “Here, we’re not seeing the same prevalence of individuals requesting either asylum or wanting to be caught. The people here that we’re seeing for the most part, they’re trying to find that seam. They’re trying to find that vulnerability and come into the United States without detection.”

The expiration of the Trump-era migrant expulsion policy, which ended in May 2023, had also raised concerns among the Border Patrol Union that illegal immigration along the northern border would spike.

These challenges are exacerbated by the fact that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and CBP do not have the same level of resources at the northern border as they do in the south. “The number of agents, the cameras and tracking equipment, the whole infrastructure — it’s vastly greater at the southern border than it is at the northern border,” said Camarota.

In response to the growing crisis, the Biden administration is reportedly planning to streamline the asylum process at the northern border. According to internal documents obtained by CBS, the administration aims to fast-track the processing of asylum claims by requiring migrants to have their documents ready for immediate screening.

There are concerns that the Biden-Harris administration and their Democrat lackeys are ultimately seeking a round of amnesty for illegal immigrants currently in the United States.
