Bill Maher abandons the Democrat Party to hand Trump a massive win

Maher has been a staunch liberal for years. But he’s tired of the direction they’re headed.

And now Bill Maher abandoned the Democrat Party to hand Trump a massive win.

Immigration Policy Sparks Heated Podcast Debate

On a recent episode of Club Random with Bill Maher, comedian Bill Maher and actor John Leguizamo engaged in a spirited discussion about U.S. immigration policy. Leguizamo criticized White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, labeling him a racist for designing President Trump’s deportation policies.

Maher countered, attributing the current immigration challenges to the Biden administration’s approach, stating, “Part of this is a backlash to how badly Biden handled the immigration situation.

It can’t just be like ‘Come one, come all.’” Leguizamo argued, “There’s plenty of room in America, come on. There’s no lack of room in America,” to which Maher responded, “It’s never about room. It’s about resources.”

He emphasized the need for controlled borders, citing a survey where “something like 200 million people around the world” expressed a desire to migrate to the U.S., driven by conditions in their home countries.

Contrasting Views on Immigrants and Border Control

The debate highlighted differing perspectives on immigration’s impact.

Leguizamo defended immigrants’ contributions, stating they are “building the country” and filling undesirable jobs. Maher agreed but stressed, “there has to be some order to it.”

He rejected Leguizamo’s defense of certain countries, bluntly stating, “Well, they are [sh**holes]. That’s why they want to come,” after Leguizamo insisted otherwise.

The discussion also touched on global migration pressures, with Maher noting that many seek better opportunities in the U.S. due to unfavorable conditions elsewhere, a point Leguizamo partially contested.

Personal Reflections on Trump and Broader Context

The conversation shifted to personal encounters with President Trump before his political rise. Leguizamo recalled meeting Trump and taking offense to being called “articulate,” describing him as “meek.”

Maher disagreed, saying, “I wouldn’t call it meek,” and praised Trump’s interpersonal skills, noting, “What I would call it is knowing how to make everybody … feel like they’re the ones who are important and you’re interested in what they’re saying. He’s good at that.”

On the topic of racism, Maher argued Trump is not racist but “a product of his time,” to which Leguizamo responded, “Some of us overcome our times,” prompting Maher to concede, “That is true and fair to say.”

Maher’s earlier dinner with Trump, which drew criticism from figures like Larry David and Sean Penn, was referenced, with Maher noting, “He’s much more self-aware than he lets on in public.”
