Cleaning up America’s cities and keeping the border safe can bring many surprises. But nobody ever thought this would happen.
Because a Border Patrol commander squared off with the last person he ever expected.
Border Patrol Commander Stands Firm Against Sanctuary Politician
Border Patrol Commander Gregory Bovino courageously faced off against Evanston’s progressive Mayor Daniel Biss on Wednesday, defending his agents’ enforcement actions after detaining at least ten individuals suspected of illegal presence in the U.S.
The tense exchange unfolded in front of reporters and activists following the arrest of a man at a local gas station in the Chicago suburb, known for hosting Northwestern University.
“The abuse has not been acceptable. The racism has not been acceptable. The violence has not been acceptable,” said Biss, a former Illinois gubernatorial candidate who is running for Congress in a competitive Democratic primary next year.
“Yeah, that’s why we’re here. That’s why we’re in your community, to hear what you need us to do when we are dealing with a violent situation or something like this, where there should be no violence committed by those who shouldn’t be here in your community,” Bovino responded, according to video of the conversation shot by Fox 32 political editor Paris Schutz.
“I’m unaware of that happening,” Biss responded, prompting Bovino to fire back: “Well, that’s probably the problem. Maybe you should get aware.”
Bovino Exposes Sanctuary Blind Spots
Mayor Biss later attacked Bovino in the Chicago Sun-Times, labeling him a “condescending, sarcastic liar” and dismissing the operation as “all a show.”
“He’s saying for the TV cameras, for right-wing podcasters, for national media, that he’s trying to keep us safe,” the mayor added. “And what he’s really doing is trying to create a spectacle while terrorizing our neighbors and abducting people.”
Commander Bovino, a frontline leader who has been instrumental in Operation Midway Blitz across cities like Chicago, Charlotte, and New Orleans, pushed back strongly.
“We never left,” Bovino told the Sun-Times Wednesday. “We’ve had several hundred [agents] here continually.”
His agents’ dedication to enforcing immigration laws protects American communities from potential risks associated with unchecked illegal entry.
Agents Score Major Wins at O’Hare
Just hours after the confrontation, Bovino announced on X that Border Patrol had arrested 16 alleged illegal immigrants working as rideshare drivers at Chicago’s O’Hare Airport.
“If you’re in this country illegally, you don’t get to blend into the ‘gig economy’ and bypass our immigration laws,” he wrote on X. “We’re the best Uber driver, and we’ll get them home again!”
Bovino and his team’s relentless efforts highlight the vital role Border Patrol plays in upholding the rule of law, ensuring public safety, and preventing exploitation of America’s systems by those who enter illegally.
