The Left is losing its mind. If we’re honest, their minds have been gone for a while.
And now Democrats are freaking out after being hit with a staggering reality check.
The new U.S. Border Patrol chief has delivered jaw-dropping numbers, revealing that illegal border crossings have plummeted by an astounding 90% since January 21 — just one day after President Trump took office.
Michael Banks, a veteran border agent turned chief, highlighted the dramatic decline during an interview on Fox News’ Fox and Friends Thursday.
He also noted that prosecutions of criminal migrants apprehended by Border Patrol have surged by 52%.
“U.S. Border Patrol knows how to get the job done, we know how to secure the border. All we needed was a president that was going to empower us—a strong leader like President Trump—and a secretary like Secretary Noem that knows exactly what we need to do to secure the border,” Banks said.
While Banks didn’t provide precise figures or specify the exact timeframe of comparison, internal Border Patrol data reviewed by the New York Post confirms that the number of migrants in custody has collapsed by more than 500% since last summer.
Currently, U.S. Customs and Border Protection is holding around 1,500 illegal immigrants — a stark contrast to the staggering 10,000 detainees in June under the previous administration.
This dramatic shift is no coincidence. The numbers make clear that Trump’s return to office has led to immediate and aggressive enforcement measures, reversing the chaos that had overwhelmed border authorities for years.
Banks, who previously served as Texas’ border czar, also pushed back against Left-wing claims that Border Patrol was targeting “abuelas” (grandmothers) and innocent families instead of hardened criminals.
“It’s just nonsense. It’s rhetoric that we’re targeting … school buses and children. It’s absurd. And if you want to talk about abuelas, my abuela is a naturalized citizen from Mexico,” he said.
“We’re certainly not targeting abuelas, we’re not targeting people who are in this country legally and don’t have the authority to go after someone who’s in this country legally,” he continued.
“We’re targeting criminals, and those who have broken the law by entering the country illegally.”
The results under Trump’s enforcement-first strategy speak for themselves.
Since Inauguration Day, more than 5,500 illegal migrants with violent criminal records have been removed from American communities.
Once-chaotic border crossing hubs have slowed to a near standstill, particularly in Texas.
The numbers tell the story. On February 5, only 396 illegal crossings were recorded across major Texas border sectors, including El Paso, Rio Grande Valley, Laredo, Del Rio, and Big Bend.
For comparison, Del Rio alone had been overrun with thousands of illegal crossings per day under Biden, culminating in the infamous September 2021 surge when over 14,000 Haitian migrants swarmed the border in just days.
Now, with Trump back in charge, the open-border disaster is being replaced by real enforcement — and the results are undeniable.
