Trump isn’t messing around anymore. And no one is going to get in his way.
Now a massive arrest operation in Washington, D.C. sent Democrats running for the hills.
Trump’s Push for a Safer D.C. Gains Momentum
The Justice Department revealed a significant operation in Washington, D.C., last week, resulting in the arrest of 189 illegal immigrants as part of President Donald Trump’s bold “Make D.C. Safe and Beautiful” initiative.
Conducted from May 6 to 9, the crackdown targeted individuals described as “egregious criminal alien offenders,” reinforcing the administration’s commitment to enhancing public safety in the nation’s capital.
Outgoing Interim U.S. Attorney for D.C. Ed Martin hailed the arrests as a pivotal achievement. “A major step forward in making Washington, D.C., safer for legal citizens and their families,” Martin stated, emphasizing the operation’s focus on removing dangerous individuals from the community.
The DOJ’s announcement, released Tuesday, highlighted the apprehension of several high-risk offenders, including repeat criminals from Guatemala, though specific locations of the arrests were not disclosed.
ICE’s Targeted Enforcement Operation
The operation, led by ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) D.C. Field Office, zeroed in on what officials called some of the city’s most crime-plagued neighborhoods.
“Working with our partner agencies, ICE officers and agents arrested 189 illegal aliens and removed them from the streets of our Nation’s Capital. Throughout this enhanced enforcement operation, we targeted the most dangerous alien offenders in some of the most crime-infested neighborhoods in the city of Washington, D.C. Evil is powerless if the good are unafraid,” said ICE ERO D.C. Field Office Director Russell Hott.
Hott praised the dedication of the involved agencies, adding, “I commend the efforts of everyone involved, as all were truly committed to the success of this operation. ICE Washington, D.C., remains dedicated to our mission of prioritizing public safety by arresting and removing criminal offenders from our Nation’s Capital and surrounding communities.”
The operation’s success highlights the Trump administration’s proactive approach to tackling crime and illegal immigration in D.C.
Separately, several D.C. restaurants reported visits from ICE agents during the same period, with requests to complete I-9 forms to verify employee legality. Law enforcement clarified that these inspections did not result in arrests, and the DOJ did not link them to the crackdown in its statement.
Aligning with Trump’s Vision for D.C.
The arrests align with President Trump’s vision to revitalize Washington, D.C., as outlined in his March executive order, “Making the District of Columbia Safe and Beautiful.”
The order prioritizes “directing maximum enforcement of Federal immigration law and redirecting available Federal, State, or local law enforcement resources to apprehend and deport illegal aliens in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.”
Trump has repeatedly called on local officials to address issues like homeless encampments and rising crime, warning of federal intervention if progress stalls.
The Trump administration’s focus on D.C. reflects a commitment to restoring safety and order, contrasting with what supporters see as years of lax policies.
By targeting criminal offenders and bolstering immigration enforcement, the operation signals a robust step toward fulfilling Trump’s pledge to make the capital a safer, more vibrant city for its residents.
