The southern border has never been more porous than it is now. Who knows if it’s all part of the plan.
And now a terrifying reality at the border was just exposed and it’s dropping jaws.
The Mexican government is now actively helping migrants reach the U.S. border, busing them there if they have appointments under a controversial Biden administration policy.
Using a phone app, migrants are being paroled into the U.S., a move that has drawn sharp criticism for essentially fast-tracking illegal immigration.
The Mexican National Institute of Migration released footage showing the first busload of “foreigners” being transported from Tapachula, near Guatemala, to Reynosa, close to the U.S. border.
These migrants have secured appointments through the CBP One app, part of what Mexico is calling an “Emerging Safe Mobility Corridor.”
The Biden administration expanded the CBP One app to allow up to 1,450 migrants a day to schedule appointments at U.S. ports of entry. Once there, they can be paroled into the country if they meet certain conditions.
This app, which allows migrants to upload documents before their appointments, is now a key part of Biden’s border strategy — one that critics argue is only encouraging more illegal immigration.
Under this administration, the app has also been used to allow as many as 30,000 people from four countries to fly directly into the U.S., bypassing the traditional vetting process.
Republicans have slammed this use of humanitarian parole, which is intended for urgent, case-by-case situations, accusing the administration of flooding the country with migrants under the guise of legality.
The data backs up the criticism, with over 95% of migrants who secure appointments via the app being allowed into the U.S.
In a move that seems designed to support this questionable process, the Mexican government announced its plan to issue 20-day visas and provide transportation and food for migrants with confirmed CBP One appointments.
All of this comes as the app faces scrutiny from a DHS Inspector General report, which highlighted significant flaws in how it vets applicants.
“Although CBP uses biographic and biometric information submitted to CBP One to determine whether arriving noncitizens have derogatory records, it does not leverage the information to identify suspicious trends as part of its pre-arrival vetting procedures,” the report warned.
Meanwhile, immigration continues to be a top issue heading into the next election. Biden’s administration points to a sharp decrease in apprehensions after he signed an order allowing authorities to suspend the entry of illegal immigrants, claiming it led to a 50% drop in apprehensions.
DHS has also touted the removal of more than 131,000 individuals to 144 countries and an increase in deportations under Expedited Removal procedures.
However, Republicans, led by former President Trump, argue that Biden’s policies are to blame for the ongoing border crisis.
Trump has promised to shut down these parole programs and launch a massive deportation effort if he returns to office.
The contrast in approaches couldn’t be clearer — Trump’s tough-on-immigration policies versus Kamala’s rehashed open-door approach that many argue is only worsening the border situation.
