Impeachment talks in Washington, D.C. pick up steam and it has dire consequences

Most in politics know how to cover their tracks. But some don’t care to hide their shame anymore.

And now impeachment talks in Washington, D.C. picked up steam and it has dire consequences.

Freedom Caucus Supports Impeachment Effort Against Judge Boasberg

House Freedom Caucus members are backing a resolution introduced by Rep. Brandon Gill, R-Texas, to impeach U.S. District Judge James Boasberg. The resolution, filed last month, focuses on Boasberg’s actions in connection with “Arctic Frost,” the code name for former special counsel Jack Smith’s investigation into President Donald Trump and the 2020 election.

Gill cited Boasberg’s approval of subpoenas and gag orders in the probe, including subpoenas for phone records of several Republican members of Congress. Details of those subpoenas emerged this year in documents released by Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa.

Caucus Members Voice Support, Prioritize Other Issues

Several Freedom Caucus members expressed support for the impeachment effort in interviews with Fox News Digital.

House Freedom Caucus Chairman Andy Harris, R-Md., said: “It absolutely should be done. I think this is levels above what we thought was going on. His bias is pretty clear, someone with that kind of bias cannot exist in the federal judiciary.”

Harris indicated the issue is not an immediate priority: “No, we have other issues as well. We’re concentrated right now on the fiscal issues. But we have discussed that, and there is broad support to impeach the judge.”

Policy Chairman Chip Roy, R-Texas, noted growing interest: “I think there’s considerable movement over here, particularly in light of, actually the genesis here, Arctic Frost … the massive concerns we have with what the judge is doing — just making up facts out of thin air and assumptions based on motives that have no basis.”

Rep. Ralph Norman, R-S.C., said “I hope so” when asked if the push would gain traction, adding: “He’s so partisan. He’s one of the rogue judges that exist today. There are consequences for what he did.”

Rep. Eli Crane, R-Ariz., stated: “I think a lot of these judges have gone way out of bounds and violated their oaths. I’m in support of it, yeah.” He added: “I don’t tend to have confidence in anything around here until I see action taken. Talk is cheap.”

Context from Earlier Efforts and Legislative Alternatives

This is not the first impeachment resolution against Boasberg from Freedom Caucus members; similar measures were introduced this spring after he temporarily blocked deportation flights to El Salvador.

At that time, House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., cautioned that impeachment might not be the most effective approach due to the need for Senate support. House Republicans instead advanced a bill by Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., to limit district judges’ ability to issue nationwide injunctions. The measure passed the House in April but did not advance in the Senate.

Issa urged a deliberate process: “We have a number of rogue judges, and I think before we talk about impeachment, with so many people seeing wrongdoing, both the House and the Senate need to hold appropriate hearings and evaluate just what the proper definition of good behavior is and whether not just one, but multiple judges, may have clearly violated that. I think that’s the right way to approach it.”

Issa said he is considering holding a hearing on the matter after Thanksgiving.

The U.S. Courts system declined to comment when contacted by Fox News Digital.
