Democrats are showing their hypocrisy. They’re doing it just so they can get back at the president.
And a Leftist congressman has flip-flopped on a crucial issue in an effort to target Trump.
In a stunning display of political double standards, Maryland Democrat Rep. Jamie Raskin squirmed under the spotlight on CNN, dodging questions about nuking the filibuster—something he championed when his party held the reins under Joe Biden.
Host Dana Bash pressed Raskin hard on President Donald Trump’s bold calls to scrap the filibuster amid recent GOP setbacks in elections and the grinding government shutdown that’s got everyday Americans fed up.
Bash didn’t let him off easy, pointing out Trump’s ramped-up talk on ditching the procedural roadblock.
She reminded him of his own push for the same move during Biden’s term when Democrats couldn’t shove their agenda through the Senate.
“Look, we don’t need a procedural fix at this point,” Raskin responded, trying to pivot away from the hot seat.
Instead, he launched into a tired rant blaming Republicans for a supposed healthcare meltdown, claiming they’ve dumped a crisis on the nation with soaring premiums under Trump and the lapse of ACA subsidies.
Raskin kept hammering, insisting millions are at risk of losing coverage:
“We need to restore those credits, and we need to restore millions of people to Medicaid that were thrown off when they passed a trillion-dollar cut to healthcare in America, while they gave a trillion-dollar tax break to the wealthiest people. That’s why we’re seeing a clean Democratic sweep across America.”
But Bash wasn’t buying the deflection. “So you wanted the filibuster to be ended when Biden was president, but now no?” she shot back, exposing the flip-flop.
Raskin tried to weasel out with a weak excuse: “You know, I’m not in the Senate, so I’ve got no say in that, right?”
Shifting gears, he demanded Republicans “come to the table” to end the shutdown and get SNAP flowing again.
This isn’t the first time Raskin’s shown his true colors on the filibuster. Back in 2021, after Senate Republicans rightly blocked a witch-hunt commission on the January 6 events, he was all in for blowing it up.
“Using the filibuster to cover up the truth about Jan. 6 is a scandalous abuse of power that should bring the filibuster to an immediate and long-overdue end,” Raskin told The Hill.
Now, with Trump back in charge and eyeing the filibuster to smash through Washington gridlock, Raskin’s suddenly gone quiet—conveniently forgetting his own playbook when it suits the Democrat elite.
Meanwhile, Trump isn’t backing down, blasting the outdated rule that’s let swamp creatures block America First policies for too long, especially after Tuesday’s tough election night for some Republicans.
But even as the president rallies for action, Senate Republicans are pumping the brakes.
Majority Leader John Thune from South Dakota poured cold water on the idea, admitting in an interview that “there just simply aren’t the votes” to pull the trigger right now.
This whole saga highlights how Democrats like Raskin play by one set of rules when they’re in power, but cry foul when conservatives fight back—proving once again why voters are turning to leaders like Trump to drain the swamp and put America first.
