The left have made their intentions clear. They are ready to go after the president and those close to him.
And ruthless investigations are set to rain down on the Trump family.
Democrats are dropping the mask and openly declaring their plans for a post-election witch hunt. In a recent segment on MS NOW’s The Weeknight, Sen. Ed Markey of Massachusetts made it crystal clear what his party intends to do if they claw back power in Congress this November: launch investigations targeting Donald Trump, his family, and those associated with his administration.
Co-host Symone Sanders set the stage by claiming, “The President of the United States has demonstrated that he does not care about the Constitution or our democracy by way of his actions and so our Senate Democrats are talking about right now what they are willing to do when and if you all get power back?”
Markey didn’t hold back. He laid out an aggressive agenda that starts with reversing Trump administration policies and quickly pivots to targeting political opponents with the full force of congressional subpoenas.
The Massachusetts senator promised to restore Medicaid cuts, Affordable Care Act cuts, and every reduction aimed at wind and solar projects, electric vehicles, and batteries. According to Markey, this agenda would somehow deliver “true energy independence.”
Markey also called for new probes into the military, framing them as necessary to root out supposed wrongdoing. Yet the real focus of his remarks centered on going after Trump and his inner circle.
“We’re going to have to, ensure that there is real accountability for the military. So that we’re doing the investigations to get to the bottom of the corruption, which is at the heart of the Trump administration between, Trump, his family members, his cronies, and all of the policies, which have been put together,” Markey stated.
He set an ambitious timeline for this payback. Everything must happen fast once Democrats seize control. “And so all of that has to be done in the first three months of 2027, after the Democrats get the gavels get the subpoena power in the House and Senate, we have to make them accountable for the corruption, which is at the heart of what this administration is all about,” he added.
This isn’t governance. It’s a declaration of political warfare against a president who delivered results for everyday Americans. While families struggle with inflation from the previous administration, Markey and his allies dream of endless hearings designed to paralyze the executive branch.
The senator believes the public is fully on board with this approach. He painted a vivid picture of voters rising up against Republicans.
“And, and I, we with you, that that’s going to be a test, but I think it’s going to be a test that the Democrats are going to pass because the American people are coming with pitchforks towards the Republicans to take them out this November and that mandate is going to be very clear to Democrats,” Markey claimed.
Instead of focusing on securing the border or cutting wasteful spending, Democrats want to weaponize investigations once again. They tried this playbook before and it only fueled public distrust in institutions.
Markey’s comments expose the real priority for his party: punishing political enemies rather than solving problems facing regular citizens. Restoring green energy subsidies would mean higher costs for manufacturers and drivers who rely on affordable fuel.
The push to investigate Trump’s family and associates smells of selective outrage. Where were these same voices when Hunter Biden’s dealings raised serious questions? The double standard couldn’t be more obvious to anyone paying attention.
This planned assault on the Trump administration represents the same swamp mentality that voters rejected in recent cycles. Americans want leaders focused on jobs, safety, and prosperity, not another cycle of partisan score-settling.
As November approaches, Markey’s interview serves as a warning. Democrats aren’t hiding their intentions. They view electoral victory as a green light to unleash congressional power against their opponents.
