The Democrat Party is ready to move on from Joe Biden. But Obama might have other plans.
As Barack Obama has a 2024 election wildcard to play and change everything.
The news from Joe Biden that he wouldn’t be seeking a second term in the Oval Office anymore was followed by numerous Democrats putting out official statements to voice their support for Kamala Harris as the next Democrat nominee. It’s largely been assumed since the announcement that she would be the one to step in for Biden at this chaotic moment.
That being said, there’s something very interesting going on behind the scenes involving Barack Obama that’s worth paying attention to before anyone assumes it’s going to be Kamala Harris running against the surging Donald Trump this November general election season.
As many have noted, Barack Obama did not endorse Kamala Harris in his initial statement that he put out “thanking” Joe Biden for his service.
“I believe that Joe Biden’s vision of a generous, prosperous, and united America that provides opportunity for everyone will be on full display at the Democratic Convention in August. And I expect that every single one of us are prepared to carry that message of hope and progress forward into November and beyond,” former President Obama said in a statement he shared online.
“We will be navigating uncharted waters in the days ahead. But I have extraordinary confidence that the leaders of our party will be able to create a process from which an outstanding nominee emerges,” Obama went on to add.
Again, no Kamala Harris reference to be found. So what gives? Well political strategists and insiders are saying that Barack Obama is trying to do everything he can to find someone else without all the baggage that Kamala Harris has.
The Clintons immediately endorsed Kamala.
Not Barack Obama.

The most important point to notice is that Barack Obama specifically worded his statement to not say anything about Harris and that this clearly means it’s not a given she will be the one.

Barack Obama Waiting For The Forest Through The Trees
The most important thing for Barack Obama, the secret leader of the Democrat Party, is winning no matter what. That’s always been his MO for the Democrats. The so-called “progressive” wing of the Democrat Party was very upset with him during his term because he wasn’t all he hyped himself up to be. What got in the way? His desire to win.
Barack Obama, like many dirty politicians, is absolutely willing to set aside any supposed “political beliefs” if it’s convenient for future elections. He always put the future of the Democrat Party ahead of what he may have even wanted to accomplish. That’s the slimy bureaucracy that Americans have been frustrated with, no matter where you are on the political spectrum.
Apply that to what’s going on with the Democrat nomination process that is going through total chaos right now. Barack Obama would be fine with Kamala Harris, sure. But only if she’s going to win. Only if she actually gives Democrats a lift in the 2024 general election season. That’s all that matters to him.
If she were to silence all critics and make it unscathed to a Democrat nomination, Barack Obama will be forced to endorse her. He will do so if she’s got it lapped up and it’s clear he has to either endorse her or do nothing and allow the speculation bus to go wild in a general election season between Harris and Trump.
You’ll note that Barack Obama specifically implied a sort of open convention that he’d be endorsing so that an “outstanding nominee emerges”. He’s not closing the books on anyone else taking the spotlight away from Harris. Some could argue he’s even hoping for that.
Obama is not endorsing Kamala.
He's calling for an open convention.
Michelle Obama may be his nominee. https://t.co/qjDydxo77i pic.twitter.com/judkodPO2Z— Balaji (@balajis) July 21, 2024
If you’re Trump and company, you probably want the nominee to be Kamala Harris given that Barack Obama isn’t throwing his support behind her. That clearly means Obama doesn’t even believe Harris is the strongest candidate, even despite all the overwhelming pressure Obama is currently facing to support Harris as the de facto replacement.
Who could he want? Who knows. But in this wild world we live in, is a wildcard like a Josh Shapiro stepping in or even a Michelle Obama stepping in all that out there? Maybe not.
