The election is less than two months away. The polls aren’t looking good for Trump.
But Donald Trump is leaving Americans in shock with a huge campaign announcement.
Former President Donald Trump hasn’t exactly had a stellar past few weeks, especially since the debate that the media has been claiming he lost in spectacular fashion. The election remains close, no doubt, but he’s looking to win back some of the momentum before October rolls around.
Well he might have stumbled upon something that will do just that, by announcing a campaign policy that is going to have a ton of Americans cheering for Donald Trump regardless of whether they’ve previously voted for him or not. That policy idea? Establishing a national monument at Ground Zero of the 9/11 tragedy.
Trump Pledges to Designate World Trade Center Ground Zero as National Monument
In a rally held in Uniondale, New York, former President Donald Trump made a significant pledge to designate the World Trade Center Ground Zero site as a national monument. Addressing the crowd, Trump expressed his gratitude to the Local 94 workers, a group of over 5,000 individuals responsible for maintaining HVAC and mechanical systems in New York City buildings, before announcing his plan to honor the site.
Trump emphasized the importance of this initiative, particularly in recognition of the city’s first responders. “I think this is a big deal, because in your honor, I am announcing tonight that as president, I will officially make the Ground Zero site at the World Trade Center a national monument protected and maintained by the United States government,” Trump stated. “So that hallowed ground and the memory of those who perished there will be preserved for all time, preserved forever. And you deserve it.”
During his speech, Trump also praised the creators of the 9/11 National Memorial Museum for their exceptional work in commemorating the events and victims of the September 11 attacks. “The New Yorkers who created the 9/11 National Memorial Museum really did an amazing job, didn’t they? And many of them are here today and I want to thank them and I want to ensure that their outstanding work is sustained forever,” he added. “And that’s what we’ve done by doing this.”
The 9/11 attacks resulted in the deaths of 2,977 people at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. However, the toll continues to rise due to illnesses related to exposure near Ground Zero. According to the 9/11 Memorial, as of December 2023, 6,781 registered volunteers who participated in the cleanup efforts have died from illnesses or cancers linked to their exposure at or near Ground Zero. This figure, reported by the BBC, more than doubles the original death toll from the attacks.
As of September 2024, the New York City Fire Department (FDNY) reported that over 360 firefighters, EMTs, and department members have died from World Trade Center-related illnesses, surpassing the 343 fatalities the department suffered on the day of the attacks.
9/11 Still A Soft Spot For Millions Of Americans Of All Backgrounds
The reason this proposal on Donald Trump’s part is so smart is that he is seeking to win back some of that goodwill with independent and even Left-leaning Americans who are open to voting for him over Kamala Harris this November.
The way you do that is by showing how you care about issues they care about, and plenty of average Americans in swing states like Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Michigan, still have deep memories about the 9/11 tragedy. Tapping into those memories with sympathy to establish a national monument is a solid idea for Trump and company.
Kamala Harris still has to overcome the issue that she doesn’t have any previous exposure with the American people in any positive way, especially considering she was just earlier this year being labeled one of the most unpopular Vice Presidents in American history.
The criticism being lobbed her way is that she’s an empty suit and a shell for the Democrat Party to fill up with whatever talking points they want to try and win an election. Even Harris voters have a hard time pointing out what accomplishments of hers they are proud of.
You have to appreciate Charlie Kirk.
Q: Can you name Kamala Harris' greatest accomplishment as vice president?A: Being the first female, all black vice president.
Q: Can you name one thing she's done that's good?
A: Probably not…Inflation Reduction Act.

Driving that wedge between Kamala Harris and average Americans by reminding them that Harris has no profound accomplishments is a smart idea. Donald Trump, meanwhile, has a history of promoting peace and security for America. That’s what Americans have all yearned for since 9/11.
As of now, the election predicting models suggest that Kamala Harris and Donald Trump are in a neck-and-neck race with both of them winning half of the simulations being run ahead of November 5.
