Donald Trump is constantly being trashed by the left. It’s one of their favorite things to do.
And a Democrat governor accused Trump of something completely heinous.
New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill went on CNN Wednesday and launched a full-scale attack on President Trump’s record with the armed forces.
Appearing on OutFront, the Democrat claimed the president “despises military service.”
Host Erin Burnett pressed her on the point, noting Sherrill’s own background:
“As I said, you’re a veteran. You’ve endorsed 13 fellow veterans in midterm races. And you said specifically, governor, when we send veterans to Congress, we are sending in dedicated public servants trained to run toward the fight and unafraid to take on the status quo. Do you feel the same way about the White House?”
Sherrill did not hold back:
“I think that we have a president who despises military service. He had his made-up bone spurs that his dad’s doctor wrote a note for him so he could get out of service. He thinks people who serve are suckers and losers. And certainly I think you see that reflected in Pete Hegseth, the person he put in charge of our military, someone completely unqualified.”
“Credible allegations of s*xual assault and harassment failed at every job he had. This is what he thinks of our military, putting this person in charge of it, who has not only failed at every previous job that he’s taken, but now is failing at a really key role that’s impacting the safety and security of Americans. It’s impacting people who serve.”
The comments fit a familiar pattern from Democrats who spent years questioning the patriotism of anyone who supported Trump.
Sherrill, a former Navy helicopter pilot, has built her political brand on her service.
She now uses that same service as a weapon against a president who rebuilt the military.
Her attack on Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth recycles the same media talking points that failed to stop his confirmation.
Trump’s record shows consistent support for troops, veterans’ health care, and military readiness.
Sherrill’s claim that he views service members as “suckers and losers” is an old smear that has been thoroughly rejected by the men and women who actually wore the uniform and voted for him in large numbers.
