Former President Trump is on a mission. But he’s taken everyone by surprise.
Because Trump stunned everyone with this huge announcement about a second term in office.
In 2016, Democrats simply didn’t take Donald Trump seriously when he was running his campaign for president. Hillary Clinton grossly underestimated her opponent on every front and had the rug pulled out from under her in what may go down as one of the biggest political upsets in American history.
Today, Democrats know exactly what Donald Trump is all about. That’s why they are desperate to keep him from being able to even sniff a second term in the Oval Office. That’s what the constant legal attacks on Trump are all about, in the opinion of millions of Americans on both sides of the political spectrum.
Trump represents a shift away from the status quo. He’s not perfect by any means, truly only a tiny minority of Trump’s supporters are completely blind to any and all of his faults.
But there’s a reason the Washington, D.C. Swamp and the political class don’t want him to get back in office. He’s going to pick up where he left off in taking an axe to the nonsense that the bureaucrats have built up.
One of the major concerns the political class has is that Donald Trump is going to take the United States out of NATO and burn that bridge entirely. Well the former president has a new announcement on that front.
Donald Trump has shared with reporters that he intends to keep the United States in the NATO alliance, but on one condition. That condition is that the rest of the members of NATO keep good on their promises of their NATO membership.
In an interview with the former British politician and now TV journalist, Nigel Farage, Donald Trump lamented that the United States is being taken “advantage” of by doing all the heavy lifting, specifically in terms of defense spending.
“NATO has to treat the U.S. fairly, because if it’s not for the United States, NATO literally doesn’t even exist,” Trump shared with Nigel Farage.
“But they took advantage of us — like most countries do.”
Nigel then asked Donald Trump if he would view the United States’ relationship with NATO differently if the other members would uphold their end of the bargain, to which Donald Trump said “Yes, 100%.”
The former President made it clear in no uncertain terms that he believes the NATO relationship can and should change based on the way the USA is treated.
Trump went on to say that what this is all about is the United States not having to foot the bill for everyone else’s protection. He described it as simply “unfair.”
“Yeah, but you know, the United States should pay its fair share, not everybody else’s fair share. I believe the United States was paying 90% of the cost of NATO, it could be 100%. It was the most unfair thing,” Trump went on to add.
“And don’t forget, it’s more important to them than it is to us. We have an ocean in between some problems, we have a nice, big, beautiful ocean.”
These comments are definitely going to get the political hive mind buzzing. They are deathly afraid of anyone daring to question the status quo of the bureaucracy they’ve built up like the USA’s alliance in NATO.
But many Americans trust that Trump is absolutely right to question the USA’s NATO membership if we aren’t getting anything out of it compared to the rest of the partnering nations involved.
This is a prime example of how Donald Trump is willing to stand up to these bureaucrats in suits who would rather sell out America for their political agenda rather than defend her interests at all costs, which is what they swear an oath to do.
