And a former GOP presidential candidate has unleashed a disturbing warning.
Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina delivered a stark warning Monday night on Fox News Channel’s Hannity about the growing threat posed by Democratic Socialists of America candidates.
The South Carolina Republican made clear that these figures aim for something far more sweeping than a simple shift in legislation.
Host Sean Hannity opened the exchange by recalling a recent conversation at Lindsey Graham’s funeral service at the National Cathedral.
Hannity noted Scott’s powerful eulogy delivered in Columbia and then described an off-the-record talk with a long-serving Democrat.
“You know, your party’s gone crazy,” Hannity told the senator. The Democrat privately agreed, though he wouldn’t say so in public.
Scott wasted no time confirming the assessment:
“One thousand percent all over the country, from Troy Jackson in Maine, to Abdul El-Sayed in Michigan, the Democrat socialists have taken over the party. And I can tell you firsthand, they are cuckoo for cocoa puffs. Sean, this is the most dangerous, radical, and frankly, weird group of candidates I’ve ever seen in my lifetime.”
He zeroed in on Michigan’s Abdul El-Sayed as a prime example of the new breed. Scott pointed out that El-Sayed repeatedly dodged direct questions.
“These radicals don’t just want new policies,” he continued.
“They want to change the very DNA of what it means to be an American. They’re coming after our culture, Sean. And that is what makes them dangerous. Their policies are radical. Their cultural shift, it is dangerous for Americans.”
In Scott’s view, the battle is no longer a conventional contest between the two major parties.
The incoming wave of socialist candidates seeks to rewrite the core identity of the nation itself.
They target the traditions, faith, and common sense that have long defined American life.
