It’s been a disaster for Biden and the Democrats lately. The storm keeps getting worse.
And now Joe Biden’s taken another dagger in his side that’s making him bleed out even faster.
Migrants Flocking to U.S. Ports of Entry in Near-Record Numbers: A Border Crisis Update
The influx of migrants to U.S. ports of entry remains near record levels, as revealed by recent federal data. In June, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) reported over 117,000 migrant encounters at official ports of entry. This figure shows little change from the approximately 119,000 encounters recorded in May and the record 121,696 encounters in August 2023. These numbers have drawn criticism from the GOP, which argues that the Biden administration’s policies are simply creating less “politically embarrassing” pathways for foreign nationals to enter the country.
When President Joe Biden took office in January 2021, migrant encounters at ports of entry were below 20,000, according to CBP data. House Homeland Security Chairman Mark Green expressed his concerns in a statement on Monday, reacting to the new border numbers. “Another month, another devastating number of inadmissible aliens entering and being released into the United States — all at the invitation of President Biden and now-impeached DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas,” Green stated.
He continued, “Their strategy should now be plain to everyone: flood the country with as many illegal aliens as possible between ports of entry, and then create unlawful mass-parole programs like CBP One and CHNV to encourage otherwise-inadmissible aliens to still enter — just in a less politically embarrassing and damaging way.”
In response to the ongoing immigration crisis and surveys indicating that the issue was becoming a vulnerability for his re-election campaign, President Biden announced an executive order in early June aimed at controlling illegal crossings along the U.S.-Mexico border.
This order temporarily suspends the entry of noncitizens across the southern border once the average daily border encounters exceed 2,500 over a week-long period. This rule remains in effect until two weeks after the seven-day average drops below 1,500 encounters.
Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas has praised the executive order as an effective tool in reducing illegal migrant crossings between ports of entry. In a speech in late June, Mayorkas noted that Border Patrol encounters had decreased by 40% since the order was issued, and claimed that the rate at which noncitizens are directly removed had “nearly doubled.”
CBP data supports Mayorkas’ claims, showing a significant drop in illegal border crossings between ports of entry since the executive order was enacted. Border Patrol agents reported under 88,000 encounters in June, a notable decline from the more than 121,000 encounters in May.

Despite the decline in illegal border crossings, the latest CBP numbers indicate that the number of foreign nationals appearing at ports of entry remains high, as migrants utilize several mass parole programs. The House Homeland Security Committee reports that roughly half a million foreign nationals have been released into the U.S. via a humanitarian parole program for Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans, and Venezuelans (CHNV). Additionally, appointments scheduled through the CBP One app have exceeded 680,500 since January 2023.
“If Biden and Mayorkas want to take credit for the numerous devastating headlines about illegal alien crime and the floods of people coming across our borders in the last month alone, they are welcome to do so,” Green remarked on Monday.
As the border crisis continues to evolve, the effectiveness of the Biden administration’s measures remains a topic of heated debate. The situation at the U.S. ports of entry highlights the complex challenges facing policymakers as they strive to balance border security with humanitarian concerns.
No Good News On The Horizon For Joe Biden And The Democrats
Joe Biden and his allies are desperate for a win, but no win seems to be on the way right now to save them from the terrible optics that have only been getting worse for them over the past few weeks.
The Biden performance at the presidential debate was bad enough. That alone was a nail in the coffin for his campaign, as he was already behind the eight ball against Donald Trump. That just cemented the reality that Trump was the one with all the momentum this election cycle.
Then the assassination attempt forced the Trump haters to weigh in and give him sympathy, which has once again helped Trump convince independent voters that he’s the one to take on the political establishment that hates him so much.
Now there’s more and more illegal immigration crisis news that is just twisting the knife in the side of Joe Biden and his administration. His “efforts” through executive order to try and address the border crisis has been largely ineffective. There’s simply nothing good going for the Democrats right now.
