There’s no doubt that Joe Biden has seen better days.
Whether it’s constant gaffes, falling asleep at conferences, or just making absolutely no sense, many don’t believe he’s fit to be president.
But it isn’t his mental or physical fitness that are getting him in trouble this time.
It’s his policy solutions (or lack thereof).
As President Biden’s border crisis rages on, a new survey reveals that over half of Americans — including a sizable 42% of Democrats — support mass deportations of illegal immigrants.
According to a Thursday Axios Vibes poll by the Harris Poll, 51% of respondents stated they would favor removing illegal immigrants.
Additionally, a sizable portion — 30% of Democrats and 46% of Republicans — showed support for abolishing birthright citizenship, which is protected by the 14th Amendment of the Constitution.
Of those polled, 21% said that their top worries were drugs, violence, and rising crime rates related to illegal immigrants.
Conversely, 32% of respondents believed that the Biden administration was “most responsible” for the ongoing border issue afflicting the nation.
Chairman of the Harris Poll Mark Penn said, “I was astonished at the public support for large-scale deportations.”
“I think they’re just sending a message to politicians: ‘Get this under control,’” he said, noting that it was a warning to Biden that “efforts to shift responsibility for the issue to [former President Donald] Trump are not going to work.”
Since Biden assumed office in 2021, U.S. Customs and Border Protection personnel have encountered almost 7 million migrants at the southern border; 961,537 of them have been encountered in the current fiscal year.
Conversely, Biden has made repeated attempts to attribute former President Donald Trump for escalating the situation by trashing the bipartisan border security plan in the Senate earlier this year.
Since then, he has indicated he is thinking about using executive orders to crack down on border crossings by migrants as immigration is still a major voter concern before the election.
In the meantime, Trump has repeatedly charged his opponent of inciting a “bloodbath” across the nation and has made it plain that he intends to severely crack down on migrant deportations if elected.
Could this be the issue that sways the election?
6,251 U.S. people participated online in the Harris Poll’s Axios Vibes survey between March 29 and 31 and April 5-7 and 12–14. Plus-or-minus 1.5 percentage points makes up its margin of error.
