And this sudden attack on Joe Biden sent a fundraiser into total chaos.
Biden’s poll numbers have tanked harder than ever before in the lead up to the 2024 election.
It’s no surprise he needs every dollar he can get.
But not everyone is happy to have him parading around their towns.
President Joe Biden was greeted coldly outside a Philadelphia fundraiser.
While Biden talked to donors about “American possibilities” inside the Hilton Philadelphia at Penn’s Landing, hundreds of pro-Palestinian protesters, according to White House pool reports, chanted their support for a truce between Israel and Hamas.
Others chanted “shame” as Biden and his escort drove to Philadelphia International Airport where he would then fly back to Washington, D.C.
“Some protesters held up a big sign that said ‘Genocide Joe & Netan-Nazi,'” according to press pool accounts from the Monday event.
During the fundraiser, which was also attended by Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, Biden compared his inaugural address on “American possibilities” to former President Donald Trump’s address about “American carnage.” Trump is the Republican primary frontrunner in 2024.
“In three years, we’ll celebrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in this incredible town,” Biden said.
“It will be a moment, not only about our past and celebrating all we’ve done, but also will be about the future and what we could be.
“I don’t believe that on our 250th anniversary, this nation will turn to Donald Trump,” he added.
“Folks, imagine, imagine that moment and ask, ‘What do we want to be?’”
The White House has minimized the outpouring of rage directed at Biden over his response to the Israel-Hamas conflict, notably outside former First Lady Rosalynn Carter’s memorial ceremony in Georgia last month.
“We’re not worried about nicknames and bumper stickers,” said National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby.
“It’s First Amendment, free speech.”
“But this word ‘genocide’ is getting thrown around in a pretty inappropriate way by lots of different folks,” he said.
“Israel is trying to defend itself against a genocidal terrorist threat. So, when we’re going to start — if we’re going to start using that word, fine, let’s use it appropriately.”
