Imminent terror threat puts the Pentagon on red alert

The nation is on edge as the election rears its head. Now we have to worry for our safety.

Because this imminent terror threat put the Pentagon on red alert.

This nation has enough problems without worrying about being attacked for voting.

But that’s exactly what’s on the horizon.

Nasir Ahmad Tawhedi, an Afghan national accused of plotting an ISIS-inspired terror attack on Election Day in the U.S., reportedly worked as a security guard for the CIA in Afghanistan, according to NBC News.

While Tawhedi, 27, held the security role, sources confirmed that he was not an informant for the agency.

Tawhedi, who was arrested in Oklahoma on Monday, entered the U.S. on September 9, 2021, just weeks after the Taliban regained control of Afghanistan and U.S. troops withdrew from the country.

It’s unclear how long he worked as a security guard before arriving in America.

Officials haven’t disclosed whether there were any prior signs linking him to radical Islam before his arrival.

At the time of his arrest, Tawhedi was living in Oklahoma City under a special immigrant visa, which should have subjected him to extensive screening, according to NBC sources.

His visa was among the more than 70,000 granted to Afghans under the Biden-Harris administration following the U.S. pullout.

“Every Afghan resettled in the U.S. undergoes a rigorous screening and vetting process no matter which agency they worked with,” an official stated, adding that all checks involve reviewing a broad range of U.S. records.

Tawhedi was still on parole status, pending his immigration case, when federal agents arrested him for the alleged terror plot, the Justice Department said.

The FBI uncovered evidence that Tawhedi participated in ISIS-aligned Telegram groups and donated $540 in cryptocurrency to a Syrian “charity” that was funneling money to ISIS.

His eligibility for the visa remains unclear, and federal authorities have not disclosed how they first became aware of Tawhedi’s alleged activities.

Following his arrest, Tawhedi allegedly admitted to investigators that he was plotting the attack to coincide with next month’s Election Day, planning to die as a martyr alongside a co-conspirator.

In the weeks before his capture, he had taken significant steps to carry out the attack, including purchasing AK-47 rifles, selling his family’s assets, and buying one-way tickets for his wife and child to return to Afghanistan.

Tawhedi is now charged with conspiring and attempting to provide material support to ISIS.

Federal authorities are continuing their investigation into his links to the terrorist organization.
