Democrats don’t have answers. All they can do is deflect.
And now Joe Biden ran away after being asked one question by a reporter.
President Biden once again dodged questions from the press, this time ignoring a reporter’s desperate attempts to speak with him as he boarded Air Force One in Rio de Janeiro on Tuesday.
Biden was wrapping up his trip to Brazil, where he attended the G-20 summit and held meetings with world leaders, including Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum.
Yet, despite the international stage, Biden remained tight-lipped, leaving reporters scrambling for answers as usual.
Video footage captures the moment an unidentified reporter shouted questions at Biden as he prepared to board Air Force One.
Over the deafening roar of the plane’s engines, she screamed in an effort to get his attention.
Whether Biden chose to ignore her or genuinely couldn’t hear her remains unclear, but the optics were unmistakable: once again, the president avoided engaging with the media.
“Mr. President, happy early birthday! For your birthday, will you talk to us, sir?” the reporter yelled, her voice straining as she tried to be heard.
“As a gift to the press, will you please talk to us? Mr. President! President Biden, please! We haven’t heard from you all trip!” she pleaded.
Her final shout, “MR. PRESIDENT!” sounded almost hoarse.
The exchange — or lack thereof — highlights a recurring pattern with Biden.
As he has now hit his 82nd birthday, questions about his ability to engage with the public and the press remain unanswered.
He will leave office as the oldest president in U.S. history, only to be succeeded by President-elect Trump, 78, who has shown no hesitation in speaking directly to the media and the American people.
Biden’s reluctance to take questions has not gone unnoticed by journalists.
Many news outlets have criticized his lack of press access, calling it a troubling departure from democratic norms.
In April, even The New York Times publicly rebuked Biden for avoiding questions from independent journalists.
“For anyone who understands the role of the free press in a democracy, it should be troubling that President Biden has so actively and effectively avoided questions from independent journalists during his term,” the outlet stated.
“The president occupies the most important office in our nation, and the press plays a vital role in providing insights into his thinking and worldview, allowing the public to assess his record and hold him to account.”
The Times further warned that Biden’s stonewalling sets a “dangerous precedent” for future presidents, undermining transparency and accountability.
While Biden may claim he’s within his rights to avoid certain outlets, his continued silence fuels concerns about his ability — or willingness — to lead with transparency.
The American people deserve answers from their president, not a commander-in-chief who routinely dodges tough questions.
As Biden continues to sidestep the press, the contrast with President-elect Trump — who has already vowed to re-establish direct communication with the public — couldn’t be starker.
