And now the DNC headquarters is in a panic after Ron DeSantis changed everything by signing this one law.

The Republican Governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis, has had a wild past twelve months or so. He was once a leading Republican candidate for president, but that quickly faded away when Donald Trump jumped into the race and got his traction going.
Even though he was forced out of the race with Donald Trump clearly the favorite to win the nomination as he is now the only one running as Nikki Haley’s dropped out, DeSantis is still one of the most popular governors in the entire nation.
Surveys of voters in Florida demonstrate that his job approval ratings in the Sunshine State are anywhere from 55-65% depending on the firm running the poll. That’s a solid result for a Republican governor of one of the most populous states in the entire nation that has cities that are traditionally Democrat strongholds like Miami and Tampa.
Part of why he’s been so popular is he simply isn’t afraid to say what he thinks and accomplish what he wants to accomplish. He will sign bills into law that he believes are good for the people of Florida, even if it’s not “politically” popular or sits well with the Washington, D.C. political class.
He’s doubling down on that plan with his latest bill signing that is going to have a ton of politicians raising their eyebrows. The law he’s signed? Minors under the age of 14-years-old in Florida are not allowed to have their own social media accounts. The law recently signed by DeSantis will be going into effect on January 1st, 2025.
Social media companies will no longer be allowed to create accounts for minors in Florida without clear parental permission. Not only that, but social media companies will need to delete the accounts of minors under the age of 14 in the state of Florida as well. All data associated with these accounts will need to be deleted also.
“Social media harms children in a variety of ways,” the Republican Governor of Florida said after signing the law. He said the legislation is designed to give “parents a greater ability to protect their children.”
This comes on the heels of when Ron DeSantis had vetoed a sister bill that was supposed to ban social media use for children without parental permission for anyone under the age of 16-years-old. At the time, he said there was a “superior” bill on the way.
