Mitch McConnell drops retirement bombshell

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is dealing with major health issues. Many are wondering if he’s done in the Senate.

And Mitch McConnell dropped a retirement bombshell that stunned everyone.

Recently, U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY) had a fall that left him with a pretty severe concussion and a broken rib.

That was in early March, and on March 25th, McConnell was eventually discharged from the hospital and has been trying to recover from his own home.

But since then, Americans were left in limbo regarding the status of McConnell.

Rumors started flying that he may end up retiring on the basis that he can’t seem to get his health back in shape to fulfill his duties.

In fact, a major news outlet even claimed that McConnell was going to retire and that Republicans in Congress were preparing for that to be the case.

However, Mitch McConnell took to Twitter just a few short hours after that report went online to announce his plans.

McConnell said on Twitter that he is “looking forward to returning to the Senate” next week.

Furthermore, a staff member on Mitch McConnell’s team said to the Daily Caller that “he’s not going anywhere.”

Obviously, it’s good to hear that he is in better health following his fall in March.

But conservatives are concerned that Mitch McConnell is simply milking his spot in Washington, D.C. as much as he can.

Career politicians have become more and more unpopular in the eyes of the American public, and Mitch McConnell represents exactly that.

Furthermore, McConnell has a poor record of selling out the conservative base for so-called “bipartisan wins” that win him brownie points in the Washington, D.C. Swamp.

Just consider how he paved the way for the Democrats to ram through a $1.7 trillion spending bill that was full of government bloat and kick backs just two days before Christmas.

This was while the Senate was still in a 50-50 split and there was no reason for Republicans to side with Democrats to pass the gargantuan spending bill.

For the sake of Americans, particularly conservative-minded Americans, McConnell really should consider stepping down and passing the torch to another Republican who actually intends to legislate on principle.
