Ever since been pushed out of office by Joe Biden and Democrats, Donald Trump has been planning his come back.

Late last year he announced his 2024 presidential campaign almost two years before the election, solidifying his grasp for the nomination.

Since then, other Republicans have been waiting in the wings for their chance to throw their hats in the ring.

Ron DeSantis, Florida’s conservative governor, is predicted to be Trump’s major rival going into 2024.

But he hasn’t decided whether he’s running yet, but not everyone is being so cautious.

Former South Carolina governor and United Nations ambassador Nikki Haley declared her presidential candidacy on Tuesday, becoming the first major contender to former President Donald Trump for the Republican nomination in 2024.

The announcement, made in a video, is a 180-degree turn for the ex-Trump Cabinet official, who vowed two years ago that she would not run for president against her former boss in 2024.

But she changed her mind in recent months, noting the country’s economic woes and the need for “generational change,” a reference to Trump’s age of 76.

“You should know this about me. I don’t put up with bullies. And when you kick back, it hurts them more if you’re wearing heels,” Haley said. “I’m Nikki Haley and I’m running for president.”

Haley, 51, is the first in a long line of Republicans who are likely to launch presidential runs in 2024 in the following months.

Among them are Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, former Vice President Mike Pence, former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, and South Carolina Senator Tim Scott.

President Joe Biden has announced his intention to run for reelection in 2024, thereby putting a stop to any Democratic nomination race.

Haley has regularly boasted about her track record of defying political expectations, saying, “I’ve never lost an election, and I’m not going to start now.”

If elected, Haley would be the first female president of the United States and the first president of Indian origin.

During a rally in South Carolina last month, Trump told WIS-TV that Haley had called to ask for his thoughts on running for president.

Trump cited her earlier commitment not to run against him, but said he made no move to prevent her from doing so.

“She said she would never run against me because I was the greatest president, but people change their opinions, and they change what’s in their hearts,” Trump said.

“So I said, if your heart wants to do it, you have to go do it.”
