It’s no secret that Democrats have been far better at maintaining unity within their own ranks than Republicans.
Unfortunately, Republicans have been infiltrated with bad actors for decades.
But one issue threatens to do the same thing to the Democrat Party: the Israel-Hamas conflict.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-New York, has blasted the Biden administration for vetoing a United Nations resolution asking for a cease-fire in Gaza.
Last Monday, the progressive “Squad” member commented, “Shameful” over an X post showing the United States as the lone “no” vote against the resolution.
“The Biden [administration] can no longer reconcile their professed concern for Palestinians and human rights while also single-handedly vetoing the UN’s call for ceasefire and sidestepping the entire US Congress to unconditionally back the indiscriminate bombing of Gaza,” Ocasio-Cortez wrote.
Shameful.

Asked for a response to the congresswoman’s comments, a U.S. official told Fox News Digital on Monday, “Despite a rushed process and lack of consultation by the resolution’s authors, the United States engaged in good faith on the resolution. Nearly all of our recommendations were ignored.”
On Friday, thirteen countries voted in support of calling for an immediate cease-fire and the release of all hostages held by Israel and Hamas. The United States voted against it, while the United Kingdom abstained.
The United States’ deputy ambassador to the United Nations, Robert Wood, said the U.S. sought peace between Israelis and Palestinians but was suspicious of how the resolution would achieve it.
“It would simply leave Hamas in place, able to regroup and repeat what it did on Oct. 7. Colleagues, a senior Hamas official recently stated the group intends to repeat the vile acts of Oct. 7, quote, again and again and again, unquote. And yet this resolution essentially says Israel should just tolerate this, that it should allow this terror to go unchecked,” Wood said on Friday.
“Although the United States strongly supports a durable peace in which both Israelis and Palestinians can live in peace and security, we do not support this resolution’s call for an unsustainable cease-fire that will only plant the seeds for the next war.”
On October 7, Hamas terrorists stormed southern Israel, killing almost 1,200 people, the majority of whom were innocent civilians.
Israel has retaliated forcefully, pounding Gaza with rockets and bringing in ground soldiers.
According to the Gaza Health Ministry, around 18,000 Palestinians have been murdered.
Israel’s retaliatory actions have strained relations between progressive Democrats in the United States and more conventional liberals who see the alliance between Tel Aviv and Washington as crucial.
Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., an Ocasio-Cortez friend, was censured last month across party lines for anti-Israel remarks.
