Trump Administration Shuts Down Politicized Quiet Skies Program
In a decisive move to restore integrity to national security protocols, the Trump administration terminated the Quiet Skies program on Thursday, labeling it a tool “weaponized” by the Biden administration for political ends.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced the closure, citing the program’s failure to thwart terrorist attacks and its misuse to target political opponents while granting favors to connected allies.
This bold action emphasizes President Donald Trump’s commitment to prioritizing the safety and privacy of Americans, reinforcing his agenda to eliminate corrupt practices within federal agencies.
Exposing Biden’s Misuse of Surveillance
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem condemned the Quiet Skies program, a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) initiative that flagged travelers deemed to “pose an elevated security risk” for enhanced screening and potential monitoring by federal Air Marshals.
Noem declared, “It is clear that the Quiet Skies program was used as a political rolodex of the Biden Administration — weaponized against its political foes and exploited to benefit their well-heeled friends. I am calling for a Congressional investigation to unearth further corruption at the expense of the American people and the undermining of US national security.”
Costing taxpayers $200 million annually since 2010 without stopping a single terrorist attack, the program was revealed to have targeted critics like Tulsi Gabbard, now Director of National Intelligence, during her campaign for Trump, while granting exemptions to politically connected figures, such as William Shaheen, husband of Democratic Senator Jeanne Shaheen.
Restoring TSA’s Mission and Accountability
The DHS emphasized that “TSA’s critical aviation and security vetting functions will be maintained,” with Noem adding, “The Trump Administration will return TSA to its true mission of being laser-focused on the safety and security of the traveling public.
This includes restoring the integrity, privacy, and equal application of the law for all Americans.”
The department alleged that William Shaheen, flagged for traveling “with a Known or Suspected Terrorist on three occasions,” received a blanket exemption after Senator Shaheen’s lobbying efforts.
Shaheen’s office countered, stating, “Senator Shaheen contacted the Transportation Security Administration after her husband was subjected to several extensive, invasive and degrading searches at airport checkpoints,” and claimed she was unaware of any Quiet Skies designation or subsequent removal.
Noem’s call for a Congressional investigation, alongside an internal DHS probe, signals Trump’s resolve to root out abuses, ensuring federal programs serve the public interest rather than political agendas.
