The indictment trials of Donald Trump are well underway. But they’ve taken a strange turn.
Because this suspicious mail about Trump is raising everyone’s eyebrows.
The jury selection procedure for what seems to be the trial of former President Donald Trump for election tampering, has reportedly began sending out summonses to residents of Washington, D.C.
Photos of a February 9 notification to attend a “pre-screening” quiz were provided to NBC News by at least one D.C. resident. The images continued by showing that the trial’s jury was scheduled to meet on March 4. Neither date is specifically mentioned in the notice, but they do coincide with Trump’s court case schedule.
“The date’s public and the length is suspicious,” the notification recipient said to NBC. “You can easily infer what it’s regarding.”
Among the four charges pending against Trump is one for alleged meddling with the 2020 presidential election. On top of the civil fraud charges in New York, the ex-president is also facing claims of mishandling secret papers in Florida and yet another election meddling case in Georgia, separate from the one in Washington, D.C.
On every count, Trump has entered a not guilty plea.
Trump may still face legal litigation connected to the January 6, 2021 assault of the United States Capitol, according to a federal appeals court’s ruling late last week.
Claiming legal damages “for harms they allege they suffered arising from the riot,” members of Congress and Capitol Police who were there that day have sued Trump as the only defendant.
In the meanwhile, Trump has leveled accusations of political prejudice against New York Attorney General Letitia James and Judge Arthur Engoron in relation to his fraud case. A gag order concerning court officials was imposed as a result of his remarks.
“They are defending the Worst and Least Respected Attorney General in the United States, Letitia James, who is a Worldwide disgrace, as is her illegal Witch Hunt against me. The Radical and Unprecedented actions of Judge Engoron will keep BUSINESSES and JOBS forever out of New York State,” Trump wrote in a recent social media post.
The concern here about the jury selection process is who they are going to get to be an unbiased juror in this case.
It seems almost impossible to be “unbiased” in this case given that everyone and their mother has an opinion on what happened on January 6 and whether Donald Trump was in any real way tangibly involved with any crimes leading up to that day or on that day.
What type of screening will these potential jury candidates be going through? How will it be decided if someone is “unfit” to be a juror for this case?
These are questions the American people should have an answer for since this could end up being one of the biggest legal cases in American history when all is said and done.
You can be sure that if Donald Trump enjoys an obviously strong trial and it goes to the jury and the jury still decides to convict him, that there will be major questions about how the jury was selected.
Say what you want about Donald Trump, but he deserves a fair trial just like everyone else in the nation. The concern, though, is that there’s clearly some bad actors in these cases who don’t want to give Donald Trump the light of day.
