The Biden administration made headlines last week after they shot down a number of unidentified objects from the skies over the United States and Canada.
Many in politics wondered whether the objects could have been more Chinese spy balloons sent by the Communist dictatorship after the U.S. military shot down their previous spy balloon.
Some, including government officials, refused to deny if the objects were extra-terrestrial.
But the Biden administration just admitted that it was likely neither of these things.
Instead, Biden told the public the objects seemed to be balloons operated by civilians either individually or by businesses.
He refused to elaborate on the exact nature of it, but the New York Post reports that the balloon shot down over Canada was probably a balloon operated by an enthusiast group in Illinois.
According to a story, one of the UFOs shot down by the US Air Force last weekend with a $400,000 missile could have been a $12 balloon belonging to an Illinois enthusiast group.
The Northern Illinois Bottlecap Balloon Brigade informed Aviation Week on Thursday that it believes the mystery object taken out by the military over Canada on Saturday was one of its rigorously tracked gasbags that lately went missing.
The Pico Balloon, a silver-coated cylindrical object, recorded its last position on Friday at 38,910 feet off the west coast of Alaska.
According to the publication, the balloon would have been over the central section of the Yukon Territory by Saturday, about the same time a military Lockheed Martin F-22 shot down an unexplained object of a similar type and height in the same area of Canada.
The NIBBB, a club of balloon enthusiasts dedicated to building, releasing, and tracking homemade balloons, reported its K9YO device “missing in action” on Saturday.
Until its monitoring gadget went black on Friday, the K9YO balloon had circumnavigated the world six times in 123 days. Typically, such balloons float around until they are pulled down by poor weather or get destroyed.
The NIBBB balloon has a small GPS transmitter and an antenna, allowing the group to track it with a ham radio.
According to Fortune, the Air Force deployed Sidewinder missiles in its targeted attacks on the Chinese surveillance balloon that was shot down earlier this month and the mysterious UFOs that were shot down last week. Each missile costs around $400,000 to produce.
According to Aviation Week, AP Pico Balloons normally cost between $12 and $180 per balloon.
In addition to the takedown on Saturday, the US downed aerial objects over Alaska on Friday and Lake Huron on Sunday.
After five days of silence, President Biden addressed the extraordinary military action in North American airspace on Thursday, telling Americans that there was no proof that the three unidentified flying objects were malicious.
“We don’t yet know exactly what these three objects were,” Biden said, echoing remarks by other administration officials.
“But nothing, nothing right now suggests they were related to China’s spy balloon program, or that they were surveillance vehicles from any other country,” the president added, acknowledging a disclosure made Tuesday by his National Security Council.
“The intelligence community’s current assessment is that these three objects are most likely balloons tied to private companies, recreational or research institutions, studying weather or conducting other scientific research,” Biden said.
Officials are working to gather the debris from three recently downed objects over North America.
Nevertheless, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police discontinued their hunt for the item shot down over Lake Huron on Sunday on Thursday.
The RCMP said the chances of recovering the gadget in the 23,000-square-mile lake were slim, especially as weather conditions deteriorated Friday.
So far, the United States military has only discovered debris from the Chinese surveillance balloon that was shot down off the coast of North Carolina on February 4. With a payload the size of three school buses, the object was outfitted with antennas capable of capturing communications signals as well as other intelligence-gathering instruments.
Biden did say Thursday, “I expect to be speaking with [Chinese] President Xi [Jinping]” about the spy-balloon incident — without saying exactly when and while repeating his well-worn call for “competition, not conflict” with China.
“I gave the order to shoot it down as soon as it would be safe to do so,” Biden said of the surveillance balloon shot down.
White House officials admitted this week that “hundreds, if not thousands” of objects in the sky — including the UFOs it shot down last week — could be as innocuous as “used car lot balloons.”
The North American Aerospace Defense Command told Fox News that the FBI reached out to the NIBBB and “expects the National Security Council to have more on potentially identifying the objects.”
