Chloe Cole Act Takes Aim at Child Gender Transitions

Republican lawmakers are championing a bold new bill named after de-transitioner Chloe Cole, aiming to halt what they call a dangerous trend of “gender transition” medical procedures for minors.

The Chloe Cole Act, introduced by Rep. Bob Onder (R-Mo.) in the House and Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) in the Senate, would ban puberty blockers, cross-s-x hormones, and surgeries for those under 18 while opening legal avenues for de-transitioners to sue doctors who performed these procedures.

For conservatives, this legislation is a critical stand to protect vulnerable children from irreversible medical interventions and an industry profiting billions off what they see as reckless experimentation.

Protecting Kids, Empowering De-Transitioners

The bill draws its name and urgency from Chloe Cole, who underwent a double mastectomy and hormone treatments at 15, only to later regret her transition and speak out against the medical system that enabled it. “As a member of Congress, a doctor, a parent, and an American, I am committed to protecting our nation’s children,” Onder declared.

“That’s why I am proud to introduce the Chloe Cole Act, a landmark bill that will put a permanent stop to one of the most dangerous and barbaric medical procedures in modern history.”

CatholicVote President Kelsey Reinhardt echoed this, praising the bill as a lifeline for kids like Cole, whose Catholic faith gave her the courage to fight back. “Children suffering from gender confusion need help and guidance,” Reinhardt said.

“The Chloe Cole Act makes it more likely they will get that assistance and ends the perverse incentives for hospitals and gender clinics to make money off of mutilating children, an industry that makes billions every year.”

Alarming Data Fuels Conservative Push

Sen. Blackburn’s office highlighted sobering statistics: from 2019 to 2023, over 5,000 minors underwent gender-related surgeries, nearly 14,000 received “s-x change treatments,” 8,000 were prescribed puberty blockers or hormones, and over 62,000 such prescriptions were written for children.

“This measure would put a stop to this barbaric abuse of children and give those who have suffered the consequences of these harmful procedures the chance to fight back,” Blackburn stated on September 18.

The bill also codifies President Trump’s January executive order, “Protecting children from chemical and surgical mutilation,” which cut federal funding for such procedures and directed agencies to end “gender-affirming care” for minors. With the Department of Justice and conservative groups rallying behind it, the legislation signals a growing backlash against medical practices critics argue exploit confused youth.

For conservatives, the Chloe Cole Act is more than policy—it’s a moral imperative to shield kids from irreversible decisions and hold accountable a medical establishment profiting from their vulnerability.
